Hello all, Well I have been flying electric & nitro aircraft for some time now, and just been itching to get in to the larger scales. I finally bit the bullet today and got the Lanier 94" Yak54 80cc. The last one the local hobby shop had. From what I understand this was one of Laniers newer realeases, before Great Planes bought them out. I was extreme impressed with the weight of the yak, it is very light and very well built, all the flight controls are prehinged and it has a beautifully done color scheme. Since there are not that many around I am having trouble finding information on them. As I am new to gaint scale aircraft I was hoping I could get some advice. I was thinking a DA 85, 3W 80, or ZDZ 80 for the engine, but not sure which one is best. I was also wondering about RX/TX systems, dual RX, 2.4 Gh I wanna make sure I don't lose control of such a big investment. Any advice helps.
Thanks,
Don

Don, There are a bunch of threads on here about this plane and its brother the 94in edge.
Motor, well everyone will have a opinion on that, I liked it with the ZDZ 80.
Electronics, I have done them all different ways, 2 receivers, Smart-Fly system (my favorite), simple system with Y's.
Basically it all depends on how much you want to spend, there have been a few ZDZ's in the MArket Place and if you can get one under $500 jump on it. There have also been a couple of the 3W's and a DA but don't know the status. Also the other site FG has some on the plane. My last one came in at 20.12# with a ZDZ and a simple set up, don't try to lighten it up with carbon because it is almost too lite already and doesn't like to land. If you have any questions or need some solid input you can send me a private note any time, we at Fox were distributors for Lanier and I flew everything they made and the Yak was totally bad arse.
