The Irvine must be a powerhouse to swing the 13x4 with ease.

Wade,
I mostly use APC's as they're quiet and produce good thrust, but I also use wooden Zinger and Precedent props including the 12x4. Only trouble is they're fragile and I break loads of them - my LHS loves me! Why d'you ask?

Cool, you'll like it - just make sure you ALWAYS use afterrun oil at the end of every flying session, I trashed the bearings in mine after a very short time!

The irvine is sweet!
With the APC 12.25-3.75 the engine held my h9 ultra stick in a hover @ 3/4 throttle over 5800 feet fo elevation. This plan is a PIG! over 6lb. the funny thing is, It died today when a snaproll brokeoff the elevator and it went in from 75'
Good thing it's been raining for the last three days, the engines fine! but I dug it out of a 6" hole in the ground mostly wood chips.

Hercmate,
Does your APC 12x4 have the thin tips? I have one and the tips are tapered very thin, as opposed to the 12.25x3.75 or 11.5x4. Does APC make more than one "style" of 12x4?
Thanks

Both the 13x4 and 12.75x3.75 are really noisy though. They do not put much load on the irvine 53 so they get a lot of tip speed noise. They are the best props for 3d-You get the most staic thrust out of them. They also generate a large braking effect at idle so you can do steep aproaches.Use them as long as you don't mind getting infrequent winging complaints from other modellers(especially the scale and warbirders) about the noise! The irvine will also turn 12x6, 12.5x6 and 13x6!
It incredibly robust though. I have had some absolutely dust raising crashes with mine and it still runs absolutely fine with no damage sustained!
