Hello All,

Well I am in search for a 3D Plane for this upcoming season. I am looking for a ARF and I want something that is easy to fly and has a lot of forgiveness. I will be using a Spektrum DX6i Radio System with whatever servos I decide to buy. I have been looking around and I think I want to use a 4-Cycle engine and try it out. It would be my first 4 Stroker so I have a question about them. Can they run on the same fuel as I use in my 2 Strokers or do I need Special Fuelfor them.

For planes I want a small-mid size plane, nothing big and I am not really looking into gas because I caculated it and it is just to much for the time being. I have been looking at the Hangar-9 Tribute but aparently that plane has a weakspot in the fuesalage right below the wing. I have also been looking at the Twist planes but I am wonderign how they 3D? I have also been looking at the Showtime 50 but I am not sure about what that plane will perform like in 3D for a begginer. Also I need a plane that will slow down A LOT for landings because my Flying Field is just too small for any fast landing planes.

So let me know what is a excellent choice and also throw some new ideas into my head!!!

For all-out balls-to-the-wall 3D in that size range, the best option is a profile. If it has to be an ARF, I'd go for the Chinn Yak or perhaps the OMP Edge. The Edge is more docile and designed to be a 3D trainer. The Yak is arguably the most capable 40-size profile ship on the planet right now, but with mild throws and appropriate CG, it should be mild enough for anyone who has progressed beyond a typical low-wing sport ship.

If you're not interested in a profile, you can just ignore me.

If you don't mind the way profiles look definately go with one. The OMP edge or the MOJO arf are both excellent first 3d planes. The edge is a bit more forgiving. If you want a full fuse plane take a look at the extreme flight 58" extra 300 or my personal favorite the fliton inspire. The fliton is a bit larger than the rest of these planes but is very light. All of the planes mentioned will fly beautifully with a saito 82. The saito will be happy with your 2 stroke fuel as well.

Yea I am actually looking for a profile 3D plane and the OMP Edge looks to be a very nice plane. Also the Saito 82 is the engine I was looking at for whatever plane I buy. Does anyone know how much OMP would charge to ship a plane to Canada???

I do not know how much shipping would be but if your heart is not set on the saito 82 you can email OMP and have them make a combo for you with the edge and a YS 63s. It has the same power as the saito, is a tad lighter I think, and runs very very well. I saved 30$ buying the combo from them with my fusion.

Any of the Fliton feestyle series would make a GREAT plane in the 60-sized range. You can get the Fliton Edge Freestyle, Extra Freestyle or Inspire 60. A Saito 100 would make a great engine for any of those three engines. Also, regular Nitro that you'd use in a 2-stroker is the same fuel for a 4-stroke engine.

My first 3D plane was an OMP Edge, and it was great (something about forgetting to plug the charger into the wall - RIP). The guys I fly with had never seen a profile or a 3D, they all laughed at me, until I flew it. I'm no expert at 3D, but it was very forgiving, and would land about as fast as you walk. It's really light and that helps it be real slow in the air. I ran mine with just a ST G-51, and it was plenty of power. Then I bought an OMP Katana V2, but I miss the Edge - probably just my flying style (or lack thereof).
