Aeroworks Extra 300L 37% Servos
Hi. I'm building an Aeroworks Extra 37%, and I don't know exactly what servos to use.
Here's what I'm thinking about:
Futaba 9206 - two for each aileron and two for each elevator.
Futaba 5301 or Futaba 5050 (?) - (two or three?) for the rudder.
Please help me, and NO JR 8411 this time!!
Thanks!

Hum.....
Well, I was thinking a bit more, and after all the Hitec Digitals aren't so bad
And what if I use 2 5945 digitals for each aileron and elevator,
and for the rudder, 3 5735???
How would I power this with NiMh packs?
4000, two receivers???
Can anyone give me a setup example, please?
Thanx!

Aeroworks Extra 300L 37% Servos
I would use 3 9206's per aileron, 2 9206's per elevator and 2 5050's on the rudder. The AW ailerons are big and you will want 3 servos... I would also run 2 4,000 mah batteries with 2 rx's. You could use 3 5050's on the rudder but I think 2 would be fine.

Thanks!!
Thank you very much for your help!
But just one detail: what battery should I use?
I have always liked the weight of Li-Ion, Li-Poly batteries, but I saw so many planes on fire because of them...
Where can I find 4000 mAh NiMh's??
Best wishes

Aeroworks Extra 300L 37% Servos
Well.... I would go with the Hitec Digitals like you mentioned you thought about...
I would use 2 Hitec 5945 Coreless Digital Servos for each of the Ailerons, 1 Hitec 5945 Coreless Digital Servo for each elevator half, and 3 Hitec 5945 Coreless Digital Servos for the rudder (lighter than 2 Hitec 5375s and HUGE amount of power). For throttle use a Hitec 5925 Coreless Digital Servo (you want a very fast servo for throttle, especially 3d)
For battery packs.... I would say go with www.radicalrc.com
heres the pack you want, 'Radical RC 4000mah 5 cell 6V NIMH RX Pack' it costs $35 per pack... so $70 for HIGH QUALITY NIMH batteries (below is the link to the page for the battery packs)

Aeroworks Extra 300L 37% Servos
Used to have this very same model.. Built for 3D, enlarged elevator surfaces. Two 5945's on ailerons and elevators. Two 5735's on rudder. It's still flying to this day, in fact we weighed at the field today 37lbs... Plenty of servo power, remember this is a 37% model.

Aeroworks Extra 300L 37% Servos
I would definately do what your initial thoughts were and what mglavin said about putting 2 servos on each elevator. This is a large plane. I am building their 39% 330L right now and am putting 2 per elevator, 4 for the rudder, and 3 per aileron. I haven't ordered the servos yet but am planning on using either JR or Futaba and use a matchbox.
My Edge has 1 5945 per elevator and I wouldn't want to have any less torque on it. It flies great though
Good luck
John
