Is anyone making the chip hyde double vision? I know chip is out of business. Word was he sold out to chief aircraft. Chief is not listing it. Netbox hobby has the tunnel vision, but not the bouble. Can anyone help?

Yes it is still being made & sold but not in the U.S. The UK & somewhere in South America are selling it with Chip Hydes' name. I think if you do a Google search with Chip Hyde Double Vision, you will find it, dont know what shipping costs would be though. It is a great flying 3-D machine plus just a whole lot of stunts too, its worth a little extra IMO. Good luck.

I have the newer double vision and need some tech support to such questions as best way to balance (CG) and what's the right length engine standoffs. I have the DA 50. DA said use 1 1/4" but someone said 2 1/2"?? Anyway, bought the plane year and a half ago. Chip brought it to me in Phoenix on his way to a meet. Hung the plane up due to time contraints. Finally got tired of looking at the lousy covering job, striped the plane and recovered it myself. Now there is no one to get help from. So if you are knowledgeable about the plane, please e-mail me at <[email protected]> with you phone number and I will call you with some questions if you don't mind. Thanks, Marty

Martinghaz, the CG is 8.5"-9.5" from the leading edge of top wing, this put's it rite behind the rear cabane.i did mine with the wings on.my stand off's are 2" long that put's the carb needles just in front of fire wall with a da50.thats as long as you can go, and still get your cowl to cover the lower half of fuse.i have a 2500 mah five cell on top of fuel tank for ign. and 2500 five cell next to the rudder servo fo rx. plane flies hands off inverterted.

My CG is about 9" measured upright w/wings on.(top wing) 18.4lbs DA50/stock muffler. My standoffs pushed the engine out so far that the cowl did not cover the bottom side entirely, I had to epoxy on a cut-out scrap piece of cowl on each side. The H-L screws & carb are completely outside of the firewall this way. I have not had any problems with firewall & vibration after 75-100 flights. I have had other parts coming loose from vibration: Cabane screws, wooden cabane mounting rails under the top sheeting, LG screws. Locktite every screw and beef up the cabane mounting. There is more info on the DV in the Giant Scale 3-D forum threads. This plane is the easiest I've ever had to harrier, you could do it with one hand in your pocket!

I looked but didnt see it there, they do have "Double Vision" Kites & a charger with that name, but no 3-D Bipe. I have one N.I.B., I'm saving it for a winter build project even though my current DV is still flying after 100+ flights. I got the ARF & new DA50 both for about the price of a DA50 alone.(cannister incl.) Its not state-of-art engineering, but it is the best 3-D flyer I've ever flown. It harriers with only 25-35 deg. of elevator & locks in. Its a wonderful 3-D machine! The only thing I can find fault with is the aileron control in hovers, its very hard to stop TR'ing even with full right aileron. They dont go all the way to the root where the prop air is.

Apparently there is a Dons Hobbies, not the same as the link you posted, yep, the DV is there and its the SE edition, easier to build & set-up for flying, if you want a great 3-D plane, get one. I tried Ailevator mixing(70%) ailerons to elevators, it did stop the TR but pitch control in hovers became much more unstable.
