I was thinking of buying a Hyde Mount HCMYS110A for a new plane. The plane is the Cermark Extra 260 and the engine will be the YS F110S.
I had this engine on a Showtime 90 and it shook the plane pretty bad. I wanted to install the Hyde mount to help protect the airframe.
After doing some research I am concerned that the Hyde Mount may allow the engine thrust angle to change. This would seem to be a problem during blipping the throttle. I don't think that have the engine jump around during a hover or harrier would be a good thing.
Is this a concern or should I not worry about it. Will I see a benefit with the Hyde Mount over a good composite plastic mount?

Some info here.

I am having the same problem with a YS 1.10 / Sig Mayhem. If you use a nose ring you should not have a problem. The problem is using a nose ring with a FG cowl. I haven't figured out what I'm going to do so for now I'm putting up with it.

Thanks Don.
Reading the pattern forums is where I realized that I might have a potential problem.
Do you feel much difference in the Mayhem?

This is the first time I have run a YS 1.10 so I can't comment. On the third flight today the exhaust pipe broke where it reduces in size [
] I am ordering a new exhaust pipe from CH AND I'm getting the Hyde mount. I've got to try it there is just too much vibration going on. There was a P-47 at the field today with a YS 1.10 and the Hyde "A" mount and yes it did move around a bit but the vibration and related noise was 0 compared to mine.

I too ordered the Hyde mount today. I called CH and spoke to someone in support about my concerns. They said that it was a non-issue. So I will assemble the new plane with the Hyde mount and we'll see how it goes.

After a few dozen flights I really could not see any negative effects of the Hyde Type A mount.
It does stop the vibrations in the model. That I could tell right away. The engine bounces a little at slow idle and will move a little when you wack the throttle from idle to full throttle. When hovering I am already at 1/2 throttle and only moving the throttle a little. I could not tell that the thrust line was moving.
The Hyde mount is really nicely constructed.

Wow I ordered mine the day after you and I'm still waiting for it. That's the @&**$@ Customs for you. I can't even fly it because my exhaust pipe is in there also [&o]

does the hide mount affect the RPM`s? ... in pylon racing everyone does the exact opposite using very rigid mounts to gain a few rpms, but that`s for 2 stroke engines [&:]

I did not see any change in rpm. The weather has gotten cooler since I last had the engine running. It was 9800 rpm before and 9800 rpm after. Give or take a few.
I had a good chance to fly on a calm day Tuesday morning. Very solid. I am happy with the mount except it keeps vibrating my muffler loose. At low RPM the engine moves a lot.

Finally got mine installed and running. I had 5 flights today with a noticeable improvment in the lack of vibration. The plane sounds completely different. I have very little shake at idle and no rpm change. I loctited the pipe in the engine and used teflon tape on the pipe in the muffler, everything stayed tight. I WILL use this mount whenever I use this engine. One of the best $60.00 I've spent.
