How does the new version (with too aft wings or too forward landing gear, as someone mentioned above) fly? What could be the reason for putting the landing gear too forward? - nose over tendency?

Anyone flying with DLE30?

I'm not able to locate the manual at peak model site - can someone please post the link?

Thanks.

Haven't flown mine yet. I think I'm one of only a couple people on here that are building this one. I think they really just stretched the body out, and so, to get the CG right, they put the landing gear more forward in relation to the wing. otherwise the weight of the landing gear would have moved the CG further back, and it's already a touch nose heavy (Im having to move stuff as forward as possible).

I should be maidening mine soon. I'll let you know how it goes and how it flies

It's pretty hard to say with just a photo. Unless it showed the insdes etc. Where did you find the link

Hey guys, here's some photos of mine all ready to go!
I should be maiden flight breaking it in pretty soon. Was going to go today but just have too much to do
the weather is horrible anyway, and now we are heading for 10 days straight of 20 degree weather, so I doubt I'll go out in that

Looks great Trpastor. I've got the blue one, but now I like the orange better.

So did you CG at the recommended 135mm?

You know, the manual I got was for a totally differnt model, so I wasn't sure where to put it. What manual do you have for it?

I started righ ton the wing tube or just behind. I had to put a pretty heavy ignition battery all the way on the firewall, and my servo battery just behind the tube (tank in front of the tube).

Hey Guys

Flew it a few times last week and today. It flies GREAT. Very light on the wings. Tracks well ( I think the lengthing of hte fuse, though not as pretty to me as a scale fuse, helps with tracking). I hovered, torque rolled, rolling harriered knife edge great. The only thing that was really weird was in a harrier it had a LOT of wing rock. Now, maybe the CG is too far forward, and I'm just able to hover a nose heavy plane, but I'm not sure yet what the cuase is.

The tank is way up by the firewall and a good 4" in front of the wing tube. I think I'm going to move that back.

I'll see if I can get some video.

Anyone else getting theirs close to done?
The MLD 28 is plenty for it.

Congrats Trpastor, been looking forward to how it flew. Can't what to see some video! Since you have been flying it do you think the MLD will work or should one spend the extra and get the Dle30. Didnt know if that would be too much weight up front. How well does it pull out of a hover? Did you have to add any dead weight? THANKS!

I've heard back things about the DLE. I'd at least wait till they get it workin right. They are about the same weight. but teh power on the 28 was fine. I could pull out of hover at 3/4 throttle. I think when I get it dialed in right full throttle will pull out pretty quick.

I'll get some video soon

There's nothing wrong with the DLE30 other than it's a tight engine that requires to be broken in and people can't fly as much in the winter so their engines are not broken in yet

The one issue that does exist is when you pick up the airplane after starting it if you tilt the airplane the engine will slow down and may stall... some people are rotating the engine on it's mount so the carb is higher than the crankshaft... I just idle mine up on the aerobatic idle switch.. I may cut the poles on the stand so I don't have to tilt the airplane.. (don't tell anyone)

I have the DLE30 on a 68" Katana and I'm very happy with it, I really doubt the DLE30 has an equal

It turns a 19/8 xoar and weighs slightly more than a 4 stroke 120...

I just had to say something, the motor is getting a bad rap at present,, wait til the spring,, or summer

An experienced pilot will appreciate the power and deal with the tilt issue

My Katana hovers at about 1/4 throttle and engine runs perfect

The MLD can turn a 19x8 too. I don't know how the rpm compare though. I guess theat's the big question.

I've heard the DLE vibrates a lot and isn't much more power and has issues with quitting near idle. That personally scares me, as i like to torque roll etc. That's a bad time for it to stop

Once the DLE is broken in it really is a sweet running engine

MLD-28 = 2.8hp
DLE 30 = 3.7hp

When I say the DLE 30 turns a 19/8 prop I mean that is the standard prop for that motor

The MLD-28 likely doesn't compare[8D]

I don't have personal experience with them, so I can't say for sure. That sounds pretty nice (for the weight being about the same that's pretty impressive). I'll do some research and see if i can find some of the rpm reports

Oh, regardless, teh MLD is plenty for the plane, but if you wanted to spend the extra cash I think the DLE is about the same weight, so you wouldn't take a weight penalty (I think??)

The MLD on this plane pulls it out of a hover plenty quick, not a rocket, but I don't feel like I'm sinking to the ground either. I was hovering about 1/2 throttle i think. maybe 5/8's if you want to get exact

I had some Hi tec 5625s in it, but I just moved them into a new project and put some cheap HXT servos in it. The CG I put right on the wing tube and it seemed about perfect.

I'll see if I can get some online for you.

Looking at that Peakmodel manual I realize this plane is exactly like the one I bought from MaxfordUSA some time ago (except for the covering). Mine is powered by a CRRC 26 but I know it can use a little bit more power. I also have a Sukhoi 26 about the same size (almost identical inside) which is powered by an MLD-28. I like this engine a lot, it turns a Xoar 18/6 with plenty of power to shoot up like a rocket. I am thinking about getting another MLD-28 for the Yak, I am sure it will be a great combo.

Howdy guys, looking for some guidance on the Peakmodel 30% Yak-54 Version 3 with the DLE 55 combo. Anyone have experience with this acft yet?
Also are Peakmodel and Cemark one in the same? I see some on the same pics with the "Peakmodel" text across them but I'm not seeing the same paint schemes, I'm looking at the blue & white with checkerboard on the tips.

I also don't want to wait forever and a day to get it from Japan or wherever they are shipping from, plus getting parts sounds like a pain from what I've read.

Give me your wisdom! I need it badly [>:]

Peak model is in China. I purchased a extra 260 and recieved it in about 6 days. I don'nt believe Cermark & peak are related.

6 days from China? Not too shabby, kind of surprised by that actually. How was the workmanship of the extra?

BTW if anyone knows where I can find a good review of the Peakmodel 30% Yak-54 let me know!!
