hey guys,
i've got a serious problem....i've got a 91 4 stroke lying around and no airframe to put it in! i need some suggestions on a suitable airframe. i've been searching around and cant seem to come up with anything that will do 3d with a 91. i've looked at fliton, AW and such and cant find anything that either isnt discontinued or that will do 3d with a 91
so, i need suggestions!!!!! i need a project for this winter, and cant seem to find anything
thanks guys

Any of the .40 size profiles will be great and in fact most any of the "normal" .40-.50 size 3-D planes. I have used my .91 fs in Katana .40 profile, Harrier .46, Super Diablotin and Razzle .46 with great success.
With a .91 fs you have basically the whole world of 3-D planes to choose from, as long as it is not the TT .91 you have, as it is very heavy

Get yourself a 40 size profile, like the katana from omp!
You have so much to choose from!
I had a 40 size cap 232 profile, with a 46 2 stroke but it got boring so I mounted a brand new os 91 surpass.
It was a very good combination and you would have been happy with it!

thanks....
i've been looking at the Funtana X50 or a twist 60. i really wanted the showtime 50 but horizon pushed the date back till the ened of november and i really dont want to wait for that (cause knowing them they're gonna push it back again)

The 46-sized Katana is designed for a .40-.55 2-stroke which is quite a bit lighter than a .91 4-stroke so I would *not* recommend such a match if it's serious 3D you want.
You'd be much better off with the 70-sized Katana. We've got one in our club with a Magnum 91FS on it and it flies very nicely.
A .46-sized Katana with a .91 4-stroke would be a noise-heavy brick. Sure, it would fly but you'd never get the CG far enough back for really good 3D without major modifications (such as mounting the battery outside the wing, towards the tail).

What 91FS?
The Saito 91 is identical weight to the OS 70FS and makes a fantastic engine for the U Can do 3D 36, or the Funtana 40 or the other 40 size 3D birds mentioned here.
The OS91 is 3 or 4 oz heavier, so you need to watch weight

The saito 91 I have on my Chak balanced with no extra weight and it didn't come out heavy. I only have to move the battery around in the wing to change CG. Most are putting saito 82s on them, and either add tail weight or shift the battery to the very rear of the wing.
Sure it's a little overpowered, but it's there when I need it. Yeah I know most everyone likes a full fuse, but if you're really wanting to practice 3D, a profile, that is set up correctly, is hard to beat. OMP has some nice profiles. Also mojo 60s are easy builds for that winter project.

Don't put a 91FS on a Funtana. Those planes are NOT 3D planes. I mean, they've got crazy amounts of throw, but they're not very good flying machines. They drift every time you try to hover them. They don't do upright harriers very well, and they don't do KE at ALL. In fact, I have a Saito 100 looking for a 3d plane to sit in...and I'd never consider a Funtana for it. I've owned one, and NEVER again will I own one. I've flown a couple of UCD's and have never been impressed.
The Fliton Inspire 60 is getting my serious consideration. I'm really trying to find a plane, but I'm not looking for a profile. I'm really picky, but good luck finding yours!!

The secret is set up,I've turned many seemingly ill flyin planes into performers.
Many will frown upon an airframe because they haven thad the time or skill to make it work for them...

Aero Works .46-.61 Edge 540T... Do a search on this one. Looks like a good platform for 3D with a .91FS. I don't have mine together, yet. Can't wait. The plane arrived in great shape. Just need time to get it together.
