Default UCD engine

Irvine 0.72 would not be enough engine to make the plane perform well. It would get off the ground however actual hovering 3D manuvers would be lacking. It would be a good choice for the new smaller UCD however. Check out http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDUL8&P=7

They recommend up to a 70 4S

The irvine .72 is a 2 stroke I believe. It would fly the U can do very well but would not have the power for 3 d. I think that it would be too much for the .46 size plane though. Try something no bigger then the various .50s for that if your going with a 2 stroke.

There was a review, of the Diablotin, or Diablo or something similar where he used the 72 and was quite happy. It was in RCMW somehwere.

Default Engine Choice Revisited

The Irvine is a 2 Stroke. While it (0.72) would fly the UCD (60) the performance would not be in keeping with the intent of the design. I own several Irvine engines. All are quite content with large props for the size of the engines. Even though it is larger than the recommended engines for the smaller UCD if throttle management is used it should be a good combination since the Irvines are quite light. The 72 is made in a 60 size case so fit shouldn't be an issue.

This recommendation is made assuming the engine is already in the stable. If not then go with an engine in the recommended range as per the kit MFG.

I guess i will go with the os91fx then , but since the specs on the UCD(90) say 60 2s then you would imagine putting a bigger 72 2s in it would be more than enuff , obviously not , 91 on da way!!!
