I am looking to buy a.75 2 stroke, I can't beleave how much every thing went up in todays economy, you would think prices would go down. For almost half the money of x brand I could buy a tower engine, I'm looking at the .75 BB ABC are these engines any good? My main concern is quality.

I have one on a Hangar 9 Twist 60 and I have about wo gallons of gas through it...I can tell you I will not be buying the more expensive again...That engine runs just as good as my OS 75..I have never dead sticked it...But you will have to run about a half gallon of gas through it to get it broke in...They are very tight engine so don't be surprised when you get it if it is very hard to turn over...I fly my twist 60 at about 1/2 or less throttle and that Tower 75 will pull that plane unlimited vert at 1/2 throttle with 14x4W prop....Just my 2 cents...

i have O.S. engines Supertiger engines, Evolution engines,Magnum engines and a Tower .75 would probably give up a couple of the others before i would give it up. A real work horse and as reliable as they come. probably have 6 to 8 gallons thru it

I've heard a lot of good things about the TH .75, but I had a TH .46 that NEVER ran right. In fact, I've NEVER seen a Tower Hobbies engine run right. Just remember that if it sounds too good to be true, it is....you get what you pay for....and a whole slew of other cliches. I've NEVER seen anyone really have a problem with OS engines, but have seen nothing but problems on those Tower Hobbies engines.

I have had 4 Tower Hobby 46's, after pressing the carb tighter into the motor these motors ran great. I had 2 of them on my twin stick that over a hundred flights on it, but they did not run very good until I had put over 2 gallons of fuel thru them//

The Tower Hobbies .75 is a proven winner. Put TH 75 in the search engine and read away. I have had the 75 and the 60. Both were top notch and ran very reliable. Got a flyer from Tower today, the 75 is $99.

With the guys I fly with, we have all sorts of motors. I'll agree with most of the guys above, tower motors are a dang good bang for the buck. A buddy has the .75 and it has been through hell and back, and never misses. There are a few others with .75s and .46s, they always fire right up and never quit. Because of the planes they are in, I can't say much about the power in terms of all out speed or 3D vertical performance.

OK LET ME TELL MY STORY, I HAVE 2 TH .46 AND THE THINGS RUN GREAT, THEY SOUND GREAT AND THEY SEEM TO HAVE THE MOST POWER IN WHATEVER PARTICULAR SIZE YOU ARE LOOKING AT.
OF COURSE I WILL CONTINUE TO BUY TH ENGINES BUT I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO BUY OTHERS JUST TO SEE HOW I LIKE THEM, BUT I CAN PROMISE YOU THAT I WILL KEEP COMING BACK TO TH ENGINES.
THINK ABOUT IT I WILL BUY A PLANE FOR ABOUT 150 BUCKS AT THE MOST, WHY WOULD I NEED OR WANT TO PUT IN AN ENGINE THAT COST TWICE OR EVEN TRIPLE WHAT I PAY FOR THE PLANE
THATS FOR THE BIRDS, I DONT AND WONT BUY EXPENSIVE MODELS FROM GREAT PLANES OR HANGAR 9 OR SOME OF THE OTHER EXPENSIVE COMPANIES, SO IM NOT GOING TO THROUGH IN A 250-400 DOLLAR ENGINE. I HAVE HAD GOOD LUCK BUYING PLANES FROM NITROPLANES.COM AND SOME OTHER INTERNET BASED COMPANIES.
SO I SAY BUY THE TOWER HOBBIES ENGINES THEY RUN GOOD SOUND GOOD AND ARE INEXPENSIVE. IN FACT YOU SHOULD ALSO BUY STOCK IN THE TH ENGINES.

If this is true you really need to get out more[sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif] Plenty of people having trouble with their Os`s and plenty of fine running Tower engines out there. Most all engine problems are really in fact owner problems

I agree 100%....If you know how to tune engine you should have no problem with any of those engines....Don't get me wrong I know company's can and do pump out lemons sometimes...But i have had quite a few different engines and all seem to run really good...I would not hesitate to purchase Tower engines......I love my 75 on my Twist 60....

Speaking of lemons, no-one have had as many as OS anyway. They are the only engine manufacturer who have had problems with nickel peeling in their sleeves (La series peeled, FX series peeled, and even ax series peel, although less frekvent)
The ulitimate 70 fs was a total fiasko and was discontinued after a short while, the first production of the 91 FX had lots of problems so they had to change the remote needle assembly on the next generation. OS is surely no guarantee of success, only the fanatics think so
They do make quite a few very good ones also
I have had a TH 75 which ran very strong, I have also had great success with Magnum, ASP, MVVS, OS, YS....etc
Most engines out there nowadays are good if one know how to handle them and solve minor faults like small airleaks, which can occure with both cheap and expensive engines.

I have never owned a Tower engine but I have broken in a couple of the .46's for friends. Me and a buddy of mine have identical Tower Trainers that we use for beaters/ combat. Mine has a 13 year old Thunder Tiger Pro .46 and his is running a Tower .46. In straight and level flight his will pull away from mine every time. When it was new they were more of a fair match for each other but after almost a gallon fuel that Tower Motor has came to life. I think a newer TT motor would be a better comparision. Overall I think they are a hell of a value if you are patient with them during break-in. Plus that pipe sounds awfuly cool! Now would I take one over a TT Pro .46? Probably not. I have not seen any of them as old as my Pro .46 yet so the jury is still out on that. THe pro .46 is another great value to look at in that size range.

I still have (3) Tower 75 engines in my fleet.
At one point I had (8) of these engines. Sold a few because I went to flying larger planes and wanted to reduce my glow fuel cost.
Do they run good? ABSOLUTELY!! I wouldn't have bought (8) of them if the first one didn't run good.
They are powerful and reliable. Can't beat the price. Best engine in the hobby for under a hundred bucks.
