Default Servos for 1.20 3D plane????

Hi,

I am planning to buy a new 1.20 3D aerobatic plane. Is it necessary to buy hindered dollars servos or I can go with something less expensive? On the other side, I don’t want to have a cheap setup and lost my plane, I just want to have “enough” servos for 3D? What are the servos you guys usually use in 1.20 planes?

Thank you very much.

i would you at least 100oz. servos in this size airplane.
I have stripped futaba 9303 in planes this size. I have had luck with hitec 605 on ailerons but for 3d would use digitals for rudder and elevator. I personally use jr 8411's on these controls.

OK, so I need 100 oz torque. Does the Hitech 645 should be ok everywhere?

Default Servos for 1.20 3D plane????

Hey,

I used the Hitech 625 all around using 6 volt battery since they have speed which is required for 3D. 645 are not as fast. The reason for digitals is not only are the more accurate but the torque rated for the servo is 100 oz. through out the entire movement of the servo versus the torque on the non digital is only on the end of the movement. It builds up to 100 oz.

1.20 size 3d planes are boarder line for digital thats way you can get away with a mix of the two.

Once you get into 3D 1.20+ planes you are now investing in radio gear. It is the best size for growing and the investments can be done in stages. 3 digitals and 2 non digitals is cheaper then 5 or 7 digitals with larger planes.

Hope this helps.

You can get away with slow servos on the ailerons. You won't use them much for TR'n or Hovering anyway. Even if you do you (rolling harriers) can sacrafice the response a little. However, use the strongest digital servo you can afford on the Rudder and good 'uns on the elevators.

I used HS-5475HB digitals on my World Models FW3D 1.20 on 6 volts and they are superb! At $35.00 or so they are also not expensive...
