Default Why some Edge540's are named wrong

You ever wonder why some companies make an Edge 540 and call it the 540T and it has the small canopy?

I see so many different adds for Edge 540T that have the small canopy. Or other way around. Large canopy and no T on the 540 part.

My understanding was the T stood for tandem seater. That is why the canopy is much longer than the other. Or does the T stand for something else? Am I wrong or are they naming them incorrectly?

hi,
check here if you didnt know: http://www.zivko.com/EDGE/edge540.html

T is for tandem or trainer. take your pic. just 540 is the single seat.

companies sometimes just dont get it right. just like extra 300 vs 330. there is no 330, just the 300L versions. the recent articles in AMA on building and Extra helped explain that...

I was making my reply to the post and noticed above an Edge. It is an advertisement with an EDGE 540, yet it shows long canopy and two seats.

I just like the way the T looks with longer canopy instead of the short stubby one.

I thought that they also make a single seat T model of the Edge. It allows for a longer elevator moment since the fuselage is longer.

Geistware hit it right on the head! The full scale pilots wanted the dimensions of the 540T with out the second seat. I'm not sure if Zivko did the mod or not but they are out there. They are very hard to spot.

As in impossible. There are no single seat Edge 540T's out there. No full-scale aerobatic pilot would want the extra weight of the longer fuselage.

I didn't know about the single seat "T" for instance. You guys are smart...
