suggestion for best 3D plane that fits in a compact 2 seater car
Hi everyone
I am looking to purchase an airplane that performs all the 3d maneuvers in the book excellently, but that still fits inside a compact car. I own a nissan 350z...it's a two seater, and wont fit much. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I was eyeing the horizon hobby twist 60 airplane, but your advice would help
Thanks!
Andy

i dont think the twist 60 will fit in your car. I had one (until last week) and it barely fit in the cab of my full size truck. the wing is just too big. Maybe a twist 40. I dont think a twist is the perfect 3d machine either. i've had three and they do some stuff great and struggle with other stuff.

Thanks for the heads up. What do you think about the aeroworks edge .60 size? Is that a proficient 3d airplane? I would like something that is able to hover without much wing rock and can do harriers torque rolls etc. I know that things always get more difficult in the smaller sizes, but I have no choice b/c of my vehicle. I will scratch the twist off of my list, but if you have a recommendation on what aircraft to get, I would appreciate it
Best,
Andy

you need to be more creative. I have a friend who used to put his 25% in his 350z...
But seriously, any 40 sized plane with a wing tube should fit no problem.

Havent thought about a profile plane. I will give that some thought.
By the way, how does one get a 25% airplane into that car! What kind of plane was it, and how was it done?
Thanks again

Money says that a removable wing profile plane will work up to a 60-size. I have a Z4 and I can fit a Hyperion Extra 260 40e with no issues.

Since you are stuck with smaller planes I would really consider a profile. In another post I made a comment about the Glamour (.40 sized full fuse arf) from abellrc and the Primo (.40 sized kit) from Swanyshouse. I did get to see the Primo in action and I am impressed. Only saw the video of he Glamour but I really liked its performance.

I would love to own a funtana 90 assuming I could remove it from the car! Not sure how he did that. Thanks again for the heads up

I'd look a LOT harder than a Funtana 90/100/125 as a plane that will do every 3D maneuver in the book excellently. Funtanas aren't much more capable than the Twist that was shot down earlier (not that I'm a fan of it either).

I've got one of these and I love it:
http://www.swanyshouse.com/mojo60/mojo60.aspx
Mines the fixed wing version but it is available w/ removable wings. I can fit mine in the back of a jeep cherokee fully assembled. Does the back seat fold down in the 350z? If so you can probably fit this in.
Here's a vid of the mojo flying:

If you got some$$ I'd go all out electric and get something in the 48-60 inch span.
3Dhobbyshop, Extreme flight, Precision Aerobatics just to name a few brands. You wont have to worry about getting the car all greasy and smelly either if that is another concern. Biplanes are fairly compact and can be alot of fun also.

K, I decided to experiment. I have a Maxxair Velox 68" (similar to a Funtana 90 in size/weight). I got it to fit in another friends 2007 350z with little effort.
Not saying you should pick a Funtana, just saying that you should have no problem fitting a 60-90 sized plane with removeable wings...

You want a 3D Monster....check out the Primo .40 from Swanyshouse-period, end of story!!!! You will not find a single negative anywhere about this plane its honestly that good! Those in the know will back me up. It is just as forgiving as a Mojo but will cut loose in a way that the Mojo can't. It will draw a very straight line and you can do a good IMAC sequence with it and then drag the rudder in DOD inverted harrier 8's with total confidence! It will fit in your car as well.

wow ...how did you position the funtana if you dont mind me asking. Did you open the truck and put it in the from the back or through the passenger side? The Z has a roll-bar along the top of the trunk...did you put the fuselage through the rollbar?
Thanks again for doing this!
