Just want to set it up to play around with larger scale 3D. I'm not moving up much in size over my GP extra 300 with a 1.08 in it. That plane just doesn't quite have enough power to hover and recover. I'm looking for what engine I should put in this Katana to have the real power I need to play around. I have a supertiger 2400 new sitting around but I'm not sure that the 1.4 will be enough power. Thinking about going to a gas engine.... will 26cc be big enough?
</div></span>Thanks

how does a 26cc compare with a 1.4 glow? I have only flown glow before... this would be my first trip into gas.. and plan on migrating that way from now on.

is this the specs?
<table width="500"><tr><td colspan="2">DIMENSIONAL SPECIFICATIONS</td></tr><tr><td>Wingspan: </td><td>71.65 inches</td></tr><tr><td>Length: </td><td>64.41 inches</td></tr><tr><td>Weight: </td><td>10.80 Lbs.</td></tr></table>
If yes you need a DLE30, or MT35, those will be great for that airplane considering that the weight is 10.80 punds. The 26cc will be for sport pattern side, not 3D. Couldnt find the wing area but you need power there.

not too bad, most of the 30cc airplane has from 960 to 1050 wingarea. Just keep track of your wing loading, thats all about. About the DS821 servos, those are just fine, little low side of torque, at least is a Digi servo. Just try to get some metal gear servo for the throttle, gassers shake like drag car.

without starting another thread.... for basically the same performace question... I'll ask it here...<div>
</div><div>I have a 61" extra 300 that weighs in at about 8.5 lbs. I'm running an ASP 1.08 with a pitts muffler... and it just doesn't seem to have enough to pull out of a hover.... Can I even go any bigger with the engine to practice 3d on this plane.. or is that a lost cause...</div><div>
</div><div>the wing has 750 sq inches of surface... </div><div>
</div><div>And the high rates gives it plenty of control... just not enough to hang... I only practice harriers on it... with plenty of room for recovery</div>

just read most of the DLE30 thread... looks like a decent motor for the money. I saw John you posted a lot in there... Are you happy with that engine overall? Looks like a ton of power with a few consistancy issues... I don't think I'll be disappointed with that engine.

i dont own the DLE30, but some of my friends does...in AW yak and Pilot RC airframes, i have a DLE55 but i like to read, learn from people and field test, and i can tell you that the DLE and MT will be really good option for you, dont forget to get it from someone that will offer great service after you bought an engine, so Valley View RC with Jody is a good way to go.
If you really want something to make your airplane hover, pull out with ulimited vertical and let you get out of trouble, those engines are your choice with a 18x8 or 19x8 propeller.
