Hi all,
was wondering whether the Great Planes Extra 300SP 55" can actually 3D? Note that it does not say anywhere in the Tower specs that it is 3D. Case in point, I have just test flown a GP US40+ Kit that was supposed to be 3D as per the manual but flies like a rocket and I am not too happy with it. Hence for some time, I am not going to believe manuals on whether 3D or not.
I have read the reviews: it is between this and the Reactor Bipe (I already have the Reactor 3D 46-70) and I chose this as the Reactor Bipe is rather small at 48". I am going to put a OS FS-72A on it with 3010 servos inside fuse (most reviews are suggesting not to put those in the tail)

I had the GP Extra for a long time. Very nice flyer, especially for IMACstuff. I had an O.S. 61FX on it and it would hover and pull out slowly. I did that and TR'd it, but never could get it to harrier. To be fair, I ever intended to use it for 3D so it wasn't setup (CG, Throws) for that. I would say if you want a 3D plane this probably isn't it. Wing loading a bit high, would drop a wing when the stall broke, snapped readily with too much elevator. Now yes, if you set it up right you can push it past the stall, and yes, rolling harriers avoid the wing rock issue completely so you could probably get some 3D out of it but my opinion is the transition in and out of high alpha would be too critical to be worth it. Speaking of HA, I forgot to mention it would do a nice HA KE by appying rudder from a hover, but that doesn't prove anything because a B17 wth enough power would do the same thing.Very nice Imac practice plane, though. the extra, notthe B17
Hope that helps!

Just adding another couple candidates to the fray: H9 Showtime 50 and Twist60.
I have been thinking of the Showtime for long, from even before I bought the Reactor 46 last year, but kept putting it off as it was too expensive. It is slightly larger than the Extra (and a lot larger than the bipe) but much more expensive in landed price terms. I received a lot of positive opinions regarding the Showtime
The Twist I am told is also good but I already have a similar airplane (Phoenix Topstar 3D, picture is attached)
