Any Good Gas 3D/Freestyle planes under 50cc's

I noticed a couple of similar threads, but they didn't seem to stay on topic or answer the question.

Is anyone flying a 3D/Freestyle type plane under 50cc's that isn't nasty or erratic?
I have a couple 35% gassers, but don't always have the time to get to the field for a day of flying.
Just looking for something to keep in the truck and kick around with when the opportunity arises.

Thanks for any thoughts and opinions.

Pilot RC 50 CC Sbach or Yak are very good planes.

Ah gotcha, how about the Extreme Flight 78" Extra with a Syssa or similar.

(yes I have one of those as well)

Built light, huge control surfaces, and comes in both gas and electric versions. I run mine with an MLD 35 that I had to stick a DLE 55 carb on to get it to run well.

What do you think of the flight characteristics?
Gentle enough to be fun?
Spirited enough for freestyle and 3D?

Thanks
Bob

Its very light so it tollerates a bit rearward CG for really flat spins, it gets around its elevator axis faster than anything I've flown except the 50cc Sbach.

Move the CG up a little and it does lazy IMAC but its a little light to be real tight on lines.

Sport flys great on more conservative rates.

3dhobbyshop and extremefight those are the companies to focus on

I was looking at the 3DHS 68" Vyper initally, and then the 71" Slick.

Anyone flying either one of these planes?

I will, thanks!

I'm considering a new / never flown 70" Slick in my area with a DLE 30.
Trying to learn about the DLE and read as many threads as I can on the Slick.

Do you fly a Slick?

Take care
Bob

I am the guy from the thread above with an new 71" slick. I have a DLE 30 on it with a Xoar 20x6 and it is an amazing plane! Came in at 10 pounds and it just floats. No bad habits, lands very slow. 3D wise it can do anything you are up to. Let's put it this way...if I crash it, I will build another in a heart beat!

Good to know.
Do you have the rear carb DLE?

Yes, rear carb DLE..the whole plane is designed around the DLE if you buy the "gas' version....

Here is a video of my third flight...

Got it to work, thanks.

The plane looks like a lot of fun.
It should be a bit of a break after flying the big stuff.
Just keep it in the van and get to the field for those "quickies" [X(]

I should be getting mine this Saturday.
Will have to keep an eye on the weather this weekend.
Irene is knocking!

Take care
Bob

the 30cc market has come into its own. I would consider these for your perusal

they are currently offering free shipping on all ARF's right now

good luck

Thanks for the info.
With my work schedule, I looked around for something ready to fly that wasn't too far away and found something.
It's the older 70" Slick ready to fly.
It's new and never flown with a DLE 30.

I'm looking forward to something different and this should be fun.

Take care
Bob

I have a 65 vyper ..... is there a 68 ??

it's such a great electirc plane and its so light i dont see any need for gas or puting a gas motor in there but you could

I'm under 8 pounds with 2000 watts

It is 65", sorry for the typo!

I should have the 70" Slick later today if the storm doesn't mess things up earlier than expected.
I'll let you know how it shakes out.

Take care, and stay safe this weekend.

RE: Any Good Gas 3D/Freestyle planes under 50cc's

Got the Slick on Saturday.
I'm going through it real good to get it the way I like it.
Not going to use the stock chinese tank.

The needles are going to be a challenge.
The engine is rear carb, and low end sits right against the lower front part of the firewall.

Had t replace the choke servo as the servo in there was stripped out.
That's also a challenge with the limited amount of working space available.

All in all I've got a couple more days before it's ready.

Supposed to camp at the field next weekend, but the storm has set some of the guys back a little.
We'll see.

Have a good day
Bob

I replaced the stock tank with a Fortitude RC tank from the Aeroworks website....

http://www.aero-works.net/store/sear...CategoryID=164

I went with the 8oz one to save weight. I use 4 ounces in 8 minutes of flying so you could do 10 easy. As far as the choke, I personally would just do a manual set up...cheap easy and light.
