RE: what servos for 3d
For a 30CC 5625's should be more than adaquate
Check Chief Aircraft they usually have package deals with good prices. |
RE: what servos for 3d
not a bad do you know anything about the jr sport 126mg i would to buy a servo that isnt strong enough to let me do what i plan
|
RE: what servos for 3d
analong power HD's troby built has them
|
RE: what servos for 3d
If you want to get a little more out of any servo you choose, switch that battery out and go to 6 volt.
|
RE: what servos for 3d
i read tho that on some servos they can get jitter when you run 6v im going back and fourth between jr sport st126mg or hypenion 20umd they are both about 130oz/in torque and about .19 speed

RE: what servos for 3d

RE: what servos for 3d
I sound like a broken record with these, but the Futaba 3305 is a great bang for the buck. Metal gears, love 6 volt, and less than $40 each. For a bang around 3D plane these are great.

RE: what servos for 3d
Yea I couldn't remember those, I was going to look on Futaba's site.

RE: what servos for 3d
I've been happy with the Hitec 5625's; been using 6 of them in my 50cc Reactor now for almost 100 flights. Here's a good place to get them: [link=http://www.toddsmodels.com/category_s/264.htm]Todd's Models[/link]

RE: what servos for 3d
i've been using HS985mgs on my 71 slick and 74 Edge. Very happy with them. Plus i'm not skilled enough to really notice the difference in digitals.
Curious about the Futaba 3305s. is that enough torque at 124oz@6v for a 30cc bird? |
RE: what servos for 3d
Hs-7955

RE: what servos for 3d
For hard core 3D the 3305 might be marginal on the rudder. To run an Aile or half an ELEV, you wont have any trouble. IMHO This is assuming the man that set up the linkage gets the geometry right. I've seen some with the pushrod nearly on the surface to get more throw. No servo is going to overcome that.

RE: what servos for 3d
Several years ago my choices for cheap servos from reputable manufacturers were the Futaba S3305 MG and the JR Sport ST125mg (predecessor to the ST126). When I need more servos I will again buy the S3305 or the ST126mg.
I use them with Li-ion batteries regulated to 6 volts in 3D models powered by OS 1.60FX glow 2-stroke and 26cc to 36cc gas 2-stroke engines. My largest 3D planes have a 76-inch wing span and can do knife edge loops with one S3305 servo on rudder. ;)Don't need no stinkin' $100 servos or juice suckin' buzzing digital servos. ;) |
RE: what servos for 3d
For their price point, I find the Hitec 985's are the best. They can be had for about $65. Although the 5645 and 5625 are about $15 dollers less they are not in the same league performance wise. The Futaba 3305 and 3310 servos are garbage.

RE: what servos for 3d
Anyone using the SpektrumA6030's? Digital,Titanium gears, 278 oz tq@ 6 Volts, dual BB, coreless motor. aluminum heat sink case?76 buckseach @ my LHS

RE: what servos for 3d
I bought a pair for my 100cc H9 Extra rudder; only put about a dozen flights on it before selling it, but they were very smooth and nice. These servos are made by Savox for Spektrum; they have a very good reputation so far.

RE: what servos for 3d
You may not like my choice of servos. To each his own. But don't call them garbage. I have hundreds of flights on 3305s in 3 different planes. In all that time I have had one go bad that would not hold center, and one that lost it's gears. (my fault not the servos) So make all the suggestions you want, and let each reader decide for themselves which opinion they would like to follow.
Thanks, david |
RE: what servos for 3d
FWIW, I witnessed a Hitec 5485 fail spectacularly today [X(] Flying with a friend; he thought he had an issue, so he landed, and we checked things over, doing a range check as well. He went up again, flew for a while, and said something's not right, and landed. Upon landing, one elevator servo was not working(hence the weird behaviour in the air). As he was checking it over on the bench, servo went hard over then smoked up! Literally was smokingyikes! Running on a LiFe pack; don't know why it failed, but glad it was on the ground, not in the air, and while he was there to unplug the power...

RE: what servos for 3d
New to the world of 30cc size aircraft. I bought an 71" slick
Plane runs great and came with some Power HD 1501mg servo's. The rudder wasnt' working so I ordered a Hitec hs-985 to replace it. It has become clear as day how much better this hitec servo is over the HD's. The speed and precision of the Hitec crushes the HD's.. so I want to replace the rest of the HD servo's on the ailerons and rudder. How do the hitec HS 5625's compare to the 985's? I see the 5625's are about half the price... 35ish vs 65 ish a servo... I'm not hardcore 3D... but I do want it to perform. thoughts? |
RE: what servos for 3d
Troy Built Models has 985MGs for $57. By far the cheapest that I've found. I'm using them in my 71 slick and 74 Edge. Do yourself a favor and just use 985s if you can afford them. Don't go cheap with the 5625s.
For these 30cc models, I've found you can go cheap on other parts like batteries, servo wires, motors, ECSs, props (APC),etc. But the one thing I've found where the higher price really is justified is a good servo. It makes ALL the difference. Kind of like the speakers on a stereo system. You can have a bunch of crap in terms of the amp, MP3 player, etc, but use good speakers because that is what you'll notice. PS....you'll love the slick on 985s. A lot of guys also like the Savox TG and its Align Equivalent. I'm not talented enough of a 3D flier to notice the difference in speed and I think the 985s are already blazingly fast when you tap the sticks. |
