Engine for CA 24% Extra
I just ordered a CA 24% Extra. Would a YS 140 Sport fly this plane? I want it to be able to do 3D maneuvers with it.
Thanks, Chris |
RE: Engine for CA 24% Extra
That would be a great engine and should have no problem with unlimited vert. An os 160 is about $200 less, has similar power, lighter, and uses $10 a gallon fuel, and is more fuel efficient. With the small wing on this plane it will need to be under 11 lbs ready to fly, probably as close to 10 lbs as you can get.

RE: Engine for CA 24% Extra
Hi,
Pay attention to that thread before building it!! http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Wing...1077535/tm.htm 11lbs is the maximum and getting the CG is a big challenge, specillay with a glow engine...[X(] Scoubidou |
RE: Engine for CA 24% Extra
Cancel the order quickly and build the 27% with a small gasser. I didnt keep my 24% a month before selling mostly due to being too tail heavy to land without flopping. The 24% just runs out of wing IMO. I was expecting a smaller size plane like my GP patty wagstaff, not even close IMO

RE: Engine for CA 24% Extra
I've got the kit sitting at home now and am getting ready to start the fuselage. I'm still trying to decide on an engine for it. My first thought has been the YS 140 Sport (as I posted above) but I've been investigating others as well.
How about an RCS 1.40 gas engine for this plane? Good or bad points? Better or worse than the YS? It seems to weigh in similar to the YS but uses cheap fuel (and less of it). I've also considered a 2 stroke (OS 1.6 or Moki 1.8) Chris |
