RE: Extreme Flight
well, we need to go over to china and kick the builder in the head. I have been waiting since June for this plane. And there is no telling when we will get this thing. I hope this plane is worth the wait, and not hype.
Wayne how does this plane compair flying wise to a sledge or OMP .40 edge. Other than being bigger. |
RE: Extreme Flight
ORIGINAL: JCR Here is the 107" Yak 54 with the DA100 mounted with stock mufflers and there is plenty of room for cannister mufflers. Hope you enjoy the pics. |

ORIGINAL: m.gramling Wayne how does this plane compair flying wise to a sledge or OMP .40 edge. Other than being bigger. Flies Extremely light. The tail is very responsive. You cant get me to say anything bad about the Sledge becuase I love mine but, this was more fun because of the size. I also like the OMP a lot but dont have enough time on one to make a fair comparison. |

Wayne:
It is 11:40 Illinois time as I type this in Where are the VIDS, I know you have to eat and get to the field etc..... Have fun... Are you posting VIDS nightly or all at ounce? Tell Chris Hi for me (us). Roger |
RE: Extreme Flight
Hey Roger,
I cant post the videos or pics till I get home this weekend. We got a lot of stuff recorded today. Including a manuver that I am pretty sure most people have never seen before. I could say more but it will be much better just to see it. Karl and I had a blast today. Chris, Kevin, Russ and Pugs made us feel right at home. We will back at it for more tomorrow and Wednesday. |
RE: Extreme Flight
Good things come to those who wait. These planes look good and seem to fly great. I will patiently wait for my 68" Yak.

RE: Extreme Flight
Wayne....
You should have stuck around for "Flying in the bowl!" Chris and Russell flew the "Mini-3D" in the parking lot under street light conditions.....man-o-man what a blast. That "Mini-3D" is a killer plane. Chris "Dropping into the bowl" in an inverted harrier was awesome.... Pugs |

Yeah Wayne, we had a blast flying in the parking lot beside the shop. I forgot how much fun it is to fly at night and how much concentration it takes to fly in such a confined space. We were laughing so hard that it was difficult to concentrate. Here are a couple of photos flying "in the bowl" with the Mini 3D. We've got to get some video of this!

Wayne, Chris, PUGS, Karl:
I have that Saito 100 sitting around and need a report from you guys on which plane to put it on, 65" Extra, 68" YAK or the 60" profile? When are these expected to be in? Roger |
RE: Extreme Flight
68" Yak.
Wait till you see the pics of this thing. Your not going to believe the quality of how this thing was put together. And, it flies as good as its big brother. |
RE: Extreme Flight
OK
I will set back and save some $$ and wait for the new home for the 100. I supposed I could get on the waiting list? What is the time frame? Thanks Wayne |
RE: Extreme Flight
The new factory just sent 300 of the Mini3D's to the states. They got to California today!
They will be in Atlanta very soon. The next plane in line is a .40 sized Edge profile. Awesome craftmanship on this plane as well. (I have pics.) After that the 68" Yak and then the 28% Yak. Other planes to follow in line... Chris seems very pleased with this new factory. |
RE: Extreme Flight
HOOARY, this is good news Wayne! Im so eager to get the 28% Yak I can hardly stand it! I dont mind waiting until winter to get it, it will give me time to save up for good servos and maybe even pony up the bucks for a YS engine :)
regards matt [&:] |
RE: Extreme Flight
Matt,
28% Yak and a YS engine? Are you talking about the 68" Yak? The 28% Yak needs a 50cc gasser. |
RE: Extreme Flight
Why so many of the little planes first. Geez I think I ordered my edge FF last april and the 87" yak shortly after that. I would think Extreme Flight would be wanting to fill orders it has had for better than 6 months first. I gotta say It concerns me that people will be flying the small yak way before I get the big yak I ordered a long time ago. It will be old news by the time I get it. If it's not too much to ask, how is the determination made which planes come out first
|
RE: Extreme Flight
Smallfly, believe me, I'm doing the best I can. I had contracted the new factory to begin work on these other designs before I realized that my original manufacturer could not deliver quality product, ever. I apologize if this is causing you grief, but I'm doing all I can to deliver a quality product in the shortest time possible. There will be nothing "old news" about any of these designs, I can assure you. They will outperform anything in their respective classes, period!
|
RE: Extreme Flight
Tom,
With the grief experienced in China Chris has had to adjust things along the way. That has included aircraft assembly order. If things were to go as initially planned we'd all be flying 28% Yaks right now. Hold tight! They will be here as soon as humanly possible. |
RE: Extreme Flight
No Grief, Just a Xmas check in the pocket and a bad case of the I want's. And the what to do's
Thanks for explaining why the little one's are coming out first. It's good to know a company responds quickly to a question and I now understand the process |
RE: Extreme Flight
I too have a saito 100 waiting on one of these planes .Will the saito 100 have enough power for 68' yak? It seems just a tad heavy. I would rather get the yak but the edge profile funfly seems more fitting.

I would rather get the yak but the edge profile funfly seems more fitting. Interesting I just re-visited the website and I think the recommended engine size has gone up on the smaller Yak. I thought a 100 4 stroke would do to but now it sais different. I would not mind getting a Saito 120 if I had to but I want to be sure from the manufacturer what they recommend. Any thoughts from the EXFRC crew? regards matt |
RE: Extreme Flight
I plan on using a Saito 1.00 for mine if that makes any difference.
|
RE: Extreme Flight
Hey Wayne....when you get them videos done are they going to be put on the XFRC site or yours? Really looking forward to seeing more awesome videos!
Don't everyone hate me but I am kinda glad that the planes aren't here yet......Just got married 10.18.03 and am B-R-O-K-E. Even though the wife said that she would but me one of these planes. <----Ain't she sweet!! I'd just have to look at it in the box....and thats like tellin a kid in a candy store NO. Was going to get one of the mid-sized planes....maybe will just have to get the lil Yak ASAP and wait for the 85" edge or extra. Blue Skies!!! |
RE: Extreme Flight
The videos will be hosted at MW3D.com
There will be link to them here and on the EFRC site in a day or so. I have a lot of footage that needs to be uploaded. It may take a day or two. |
RE: Extreme Flight
Hi Chris,
The large Yak looks amazing ! I'm looking forward to the the 87" and 68". I just noticed in the last pics of the 87" Yak that you're using the standard DA muffler instead of the previous tuned system. I'm just wondering why because I would prefer to use a pipe or canister for noise reduction. Thanks |

.40 sized profile Edge.
No more wood engine mounting beams that get soft over time. Phenolic material is used in this plane. Drill and bolt the motor to it. Take a look at the Cap strips on the ribs. Even they are laser cut. |
