ORIGINAL: ninelaps and you haven't even seen the worst/best of it... Remy Hey Remy! you finally signed up! I hope you follwed this thread carefully:D That new Saito you have is no good for your Funtana!! Best to give it to me and I'll trade you for a few # 64 rubber bands:D:D |
RE: RE: Hovering Funtana
BE CAREFUL! If one of those were to have many turns they would go so fast the wings would fold

RE: RE: Hovering Funtana
I dont know if I feel sory for the dude from romania who started this thread or what. But this has been the funniest thread i've seen in quite awhile. Thanks for the laughs on a cold day in chicago[8D]

RE: RE: Hovering Funtana
Yeah I heard when you wind it up,as soon you feel any resistance from the rubber bands you must stop. The huge torque when lauchning it,is nearly impossible to overcome with the rudder. With this much thrust it is best to take off from a rough grassfield that hasen't been attended to in some time.Leave the wheelpants on to aid in a more manageable take-off roll:D

RE: RE: Hovering Funtana
i've seen a funtana do an inverted torque roll...... O Be One Kanobe was showing Luke the finer points just after lunch. Man the force was strong with that one!!!

RE: RE: Hovering Funtana
I had one of the larger engines in mine, and I didn't want to go through the hassle of swapping it out for something milder.Instead I opted to toss that aluminum gear and install a set of 1/4 scale Cub floats. This makes hovering more difficult, but that was alright, cause I was getting bored of just watching it hang there with such ease.Later I added some water for ballast into the floats (about 1 gallon each side)
With good entry "waterfalls" are outrageus, but are hard to stop! actually any manouvre is hard to stop.Tomorrow I will add more ballast and try high speed blenders.:D:D |
RE: RE: Hovering Funtana
It may be a bit of a stretch to ask you plane guys since I'm talking about a Savage but here goes. I need to mount the engine from a 747 (just one right now so I can make sure it will work) on my Savage. I'm not too worried about the model rocket engines since I already know how to wire them up with a car battery. But I'm wondering if I'll have to make many modifications to the chassis to get the 747 engine to work. I have a Dremel tool, 2 part epoxy & some CA. Will this be eough? I think I have some nails too.
What gearing should I use? I want a LOT of torque so I can do backflips without a ramp. Also, What's the best way to do a 3 wd setup? I'm not sure which wheel to disable. |
RE: RE: Hovering Funtana
I think those nitro hoppers should try the rubberband method too...:D

RE: Hovering Funtana
hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!This is the funniest thread ever!! Has anyone read this??????

RE: Hovering Funtana
Is there a special way to balance the plane to make hovering easier? Like making it nose heavy? If any one can help that would be great. My plane is a funtana s40 with a magnum 52xls and has unlimited vertical at 3/4 throttle on 15% ommega fuel
|
RE: Hovering Funtana
special way to balance And holy crap I though this thread finely died. |
RE: Hovering Funtana
Savage Dias,
You're almost there, but not quite. You still need the RTV High Temp Gasket Seal. (amatuers....sheesh ) At least you'll only need cutting disks for the dremel, but make sure you get alot of them. The other bits in the kit are of no purpose. But the cutting disks do break pretty easy, especially when trying to carve compound curves. But all that you need to secure the engine, of course, is duct tape. |
RE: Hovering Funtana
Heck Yea...any engine will work! All you need is a few beers, lie down & close your eyes and the next thing you know.... all of your planes will hover! It's easy.

RE: Hovering Funtana
Hey guys I have a funtana without engine I was thinking on using my cheyene´s engine what do you think? it is a V8 VORTEC. How does it will hover?, I have seen the OS 25 in some videos and they end with a funtana´s wing departure... [&o]

RE: Hovering Funtana
Call me crazy but, I make some .0049 engines and will sell them for 1.2 billion dollars each. It's over powerful for the Funtana 40 and if you do put it in the Funtana 40 DO NOT FLY ABOVE 1/3 throttle. Also use a 20lb lead block for counter weight. You will also need to sign some release forms if you use it on the funtana 40. This engine will however, fly a 1/2 scale just fine as long as you use crow. This may be illegal for me to sell such a powerful engine so don't tell on me.

RE: Hovering Funtana
Holy &#%#!!!!!!!! Found this thread by accident... I was not feeling well, but started reading this and laughed so hard I was in tears!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought of a few comments ,myself, but You guys got me a beat by a country mile...I am sending this as a link to all the gang!! Later, MG

RE: Hovering Funtana
if you don't have the right engine for it, sell it on rcu right now and you'll have the setup you want in a week or two
|
RE: Hovering Funtana
geezus guys. i can't believe your imaturity. i use a 25 LA on my 250% edge 540! it still hovers at 1/64th throttle, full is scary! you guys are nutz!!!!
<--------byt he way..... that's my edge |
