RE: Best engine for <span class=
I have to give a big thumbs up on the West 50T1. It is by far the most powerful and responsive motor in this size I have ever run. And I would havve to say I have tried most of them, YS 45, OS 46, 50, 50H, ST 45, 51 and the Irvine 53.
Ynot could you tell us where did you get the West 50 T1 and how much $$ Thanks. Edwin. |
RE: Best engine for <span class=
I am running on 10% pro synth. Getting 14800 on the 12.75x3.25 APC.

RE: Best engine for <span class=
Quite like this plane.
How does it compare to others like the Hype, Laser 3D, Madness, Capiche 50 fun fly etc? I heard people also cut the tips off to improve knife edge. Dont know how much difference it actually makes in practice tho. I think i will get a west 50 if i get one, like the look of them[8D] |
RE: Best engine for <span class=
ASM. Never flow any of the plane above apart form the flip. All i can say it it is quite unbelievable. Chop the tipps off cos it looks cool and yes, KE roll and hight alpha stuff is better.
|
RE: Best engine for <span class=
Right, no doubt wingtips rob performance in some cases, but I really like the flow of lines on the Flip. My 3D ability is'nt violent (quite subtle actually). In this case, is the performance gain worth the asthetic loss?
BTW, great pix, guys!! hope to get mine up here soon!! Thanks for the info. |

Compared to the ones you have listed, AsM, the Flip is second best. From what i have heard the new madness 2 is better (but i havn't tried it yet). The flip is still better over the madness 1 however! I have flown the Laser 3D and Hype, the laser is now getting dated and you have to build it, there are also things it wont do, the hype is good, but i was put off by the slow rolling, also the hype wing dosen't look as good as the flips,( just personal preference!).
Either engine is good the west 50 is great but also look at the YS 63 and OS 50SX engines, they are all about the same, also if you are on a budget the Irvine 53 is good, and the ASP (just engines) 53 is also superb. I have left my wing tips as they are on the flip, high alpha KE is great and it KE spins into next week. If you cut off the tips i think it will spoil the looks of the plane! Click on these links to see some quick vidoes of my flip http://users.atw.hu/r/c/rcrepulo/kep/Kepek113.AVI and http://users.atw.hu/r/c/rcrepulo/kep/Kepek117.AVI Some more pics of me flip....... Later, Andy |
RE: Best engine for <span class=
The Flip is good but I dont like the wing section.
The section on the Madness is better, Now the Madness two has Flip style fuselage which is better (looks nicer too), and the wing is lifted but it retains the (IMO) superior Madness wing section. I have a couple just come in and it looks bluddy luvly - will put one together for me for sure ! Madness II gets my vote... C50 Fun is good too but in a different way. |
RE: Best engine for <span class=
I agree that the madness 2 is better than the flip. But compared to the madness 1 the flip wins hands down in the looks department!
Think my next Fun fly will be the madness 2. Who has them in the UK?? Does slough have them??? Andy |
RE: Best engine for <span class=
I saw Slough list them in their advert. They also have the Synergy 90 which was a surprise.
|
RE: Best engine for <span class=
trouble is i like building:D
Ive been looking around and saw the Seduction wildstyle. For a change it looks nice (unlike the flip, it makes my eyes hurt):( how does this fly/ build? also wot sot of price is it? |
RE: Best engine for <span class=
Andy, dont you know that Neil has one? Looks pretty good but expensive in the UK (£130 ish).
Cheaper to import from Singapore Hobbies. I am getting a Seduction Fun Master and Wildstyle for Xmas, both from their. Took a little over a week to get here, and cost about £150 for both. |
RE: Best engine for <span class=
thought neil had a freestyle[&:]
|
RE: Best engine for <span class=
Sorry, misread your post [&:] Though you said freestyle. I obviously have a wildstyle in box, waiting for me at my parents house:D and Xmas day. about £90 quid from Singapore hobbies, £120 from Slough or Ali's.
I'll be building the Fun Master first, as I have everything I need for that plane (servos engine etc) but I'll need a new engine and servos for the Wildstyle. |
RE: Best engine for <span class=
Try the C50 fun wing for a change since some of you already have th C50
IH has one Madness II left I think... dont know cost... email em |
RE: Best engine for <span class=
Great vids, Andy. hovers are rock-solid. 1)What engine are you using? (Looks/sounds like an os.50sx.) 2)What is your approximate throttle setting on hover? 3)Are you using the stock muffler? Cool pix too!

RE: Best engine for <span class=
Is anybody here running a saito 91. One of my friends saw a guy who had a os 50 and had to add nose weight
|
RE: Best engine for <span class=

Tipless Flip on skiis
1 Attachment(s)
Wingspan is now 51.5". The 2 tips were responsible for 7" of total span?
Oh, I also cut the aileron to size. On one aileron the hinge was just too far outside by 1/8", so the hinge sticks out of the aileron by a little bit, however covered by Monokote. I am just waiting for the snow to pile up. Curious to see if the skiis help in harrier. These are custom made skiis that I got from my friend. It weighs less than 1 oz each. |
RE: Tipless <span class=
Seanychen, give us a report on your "tipless" thoughts. Not sure if I wanna' hack-up that wing just yet.
Them natural wood skiis look great on that Flip! |
RE: Tipless <span class=
I once learn from Aerodynamics that if you have a square corner or trailing edge, the airflow will keep going as if the airfoil continues, thus does not create a negative pressure associated with a rounded corner. I can only suspect that a square wingtip will be more aerodynamically clean than a round wingtip. The stock wingtip I think messes up the air going around the airfoil of the outer span, which is the most critical for harrier. Well, it's just speculation. I will see if it makes a difference in pratice.

RE: Tipless <span class=
Thanks for the comments. The engine is a OS 50SX. Hovers at about 1/2. I've now fitted a Hatori tuned pipe and the power difference is unreal! Now PH at just over 1/4!
I have a DVD with a 10 minute flight of just torque rolling but i cant seem to get it uploaded, i'll keep trying.... I think the Madness will have to wait cos i get my new 42% cap next week with ZDZ 160 champion!! Later Andy |
