Engine to hover Funtana?
Would the OS 50 FX be good enough to hover the Funtana? It weighs 13.76 oz and gives 1.9 hp.
Thanks in Advance. |
RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
well really it will be very close . its hot so it will be full power to hover and over heat in a little while so i would put bigger in it . but someone will have one that will hang at half throttle with a 46 . so really it just matters which one you get some are very heavy some are light.
but the satio 100 is best engine ever for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
Well, I don't mean to open up a can of worms, BUT, I think the Saito 91 is better for it. You can swing the same prop, and et almost the same performance as the 100 without having to make so much mods in the mount and cowling. The 91 requires minimal mods and weights less. So it's pretty much the same thing without the rpice increase, mods and weight because the little you gain in power from the 100 u lose in weight. And remember that u dont want unnessesary wing loading on a plane like that.

How about YS 63? Almost the same weight & power of Saito 91, but can fit into the cowl.

RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
gotta say the YS .63 is the best for this, in my opinion. i love it with the master airscrew 13x6 K-series prop.

RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
The YS 63 is almost double the prize and u get more from the Saito 91 and there's not much to do to the stock settings.

RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
You get more from a Saito-91? I like Saitos but... [X(]

RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
I put a .50sx in mine and hovers at a little over half throttle with apc 12x6. Plenty of power for those of us close to sea level. Weight is just under 5lbs.

i think he means the planet he's on.
it needs more power satio 100!!!!!! just works better!!!!!!!!! |
RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
Id go with Kyles YS63. If you have seen one of his vids. you would know. He's a perty smart kid too...hehe
Awesome flying KYLE Dan |
RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
If you analyze a bit what I am trying to say here, maybe you could figure it out. An engine with a .63 ci displacement costing the same as a .91 ci displacemnt?? Yeah, It's YS, so what? Wowee! The 91 can spin a bigger prop, everything's said. And you have more reliability from the Saito, and power too. This falls off the tree. I have tried both and the Saito kicks the YS's @$$!!!

RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
well ok. what you said about ys and satio. ok why not put the satio 100 on it in place of the 91 .
satio 100 best engine for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
The 100 and the 91 do pretty much the same, why add weight and money?;)

Your original question asks if the 50FX (do you mean SX) is enough to hover the Funtana (do you mean H9).
You can get a 1500rpm increase using the Rossi Pipe and the transition is instantaneously crisp. The image depitcts top rpm w/ an APC 12.25x3.75 15% CoolPower using the Rossi Pipe. I THINK this set-up should be enough to hover the Funtana at about 1/2 throttle. |
RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
I can hover and do unlimited vertical rolls on my ultra stick 60, with a Tower hobbies .61 BB ABC. Would this be good enough to hover a H9 funtana?

RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
Acording to Horizon the weights on the .91 and 1.00 are as follows:
.91 18.3 oz 1.00 20.8 oz Both include the muffler. That's a difference of 2.5 oz, considering the difference in power output the 1.00 simply smokes the .91. and the difference in weight is less than a pair of servos. But to get back to the original question, yes the .50 will do the job but the airplane begs for the power of a 4 stroke plain and simple. Mine has a .72 on it and it flies fine and has plenty of pull out autority. I have seen a couple of them fly with .46's and the owners were not the least bit satisfied with them. |
RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
Shogun, "smoke is a much dramatic word for that, it may run faster, but its not that big a deal. Oh by the way Im reading James Clavell's "Shogun" for the second time right now. Great novel;)

RE: Engine to hover Funtana?
I have flown both engines and there is VERY pronounced difference in power when using the 1.00. For a measly 2.5 ounces it's not trivvial in the least. The 1.00 also is a bolt in replacement for the .91 so physical size isn't an issue either. Other than the price difference I really can't see any reason to prefer the .91 over the 1.00, unless you just happen to have one setting around not being used.
