Sport/scale conversion to 3-D..?

There are lots of fragments of this discusion/arguement scattered all around,but...is it,or will it,ever be possible to get true maximum 3-D performance from a modified sport/scale kit ...?

Why..? Why not..? .

RE: Sport/scale conversion to 3-D..?

My 2 cents:

Sure its possible, but by the time you done all the modifications you probably will have a tottally different plane than what you started with. You would end up with a plane that would look very similiar to something you could buy in a kit or arf. So why not just buy that type kit or arf?

Strip all the covering off.Put it on a weight loss diet ( remove any wood that is not structurally important).Get light landing gear and wheels.Remove control surfaces and enlarge them 10-20% ,add counterbalances.Double bevel, recover and rehinge to get 45% + throw.Install large, powerfull quality engine that will balance the plane as best possible.Add strong servo's with custom linkages and an aft CG and you should have much better performance:D
Or you could buy a kit or ARF that has been a proven design;)
