Default Sport/scale conversion to 3-D..?

There are lots of fragments of this discusion/arguement scattered all around,but...is it,or will it,ever be possible to get true maximum 3-D performance from a modified sport/scale kit ...?

Why..? Why not..? .

My 2 cents:

Sure its possible, but by the time you done all the modifications you probably will have a tottally different plane than what you started with. You would end up with a plane that would look very similiar to something you could buy in a kit or arf. So why not just buy that type kit or arf?

Strip all the covering off.Put it on a weight loss diet ( remove any wood that is not structurally important).Get light landing gear and wheels.Remove control surfaces and enlarge them 10-20% ,add counterbalances.Double bevel, recover and rehinge to get 45% + throw.Install large, powerfull quality engine that will balance the plane as best possible.Add strong servo's with custom linkages and an aft CG and you should have much better performance
Or you could buy a kit or ARF that has been a proven design
