Servo choice

Can anyone reccomend a servo thats light and about 5kg? I have to put 2 servos at the backend of my
2M High Society for each elevator half.....I'm trying to avoid it getting too tail heavy.

Cheers.

RE: Servo choice

How about Hitec 545BB

English Metric
Torque 4.8/6.0v : 61 / 76 oz. 4.4 / 5.5 kg.
Speed 4.8/6.0v : 0.22 / 0.17 second
Size : 1.6 x 0.8 x 1.4" 40 x 20 x 36mm
Weight : 1.6 oz. 44.5 g.

Also Hobbico CS 65 :

Torque 4.8/6.0V : 5.54 / 6.62 kg.
Speed 4.8 / 6.0V : 0.16 / 0.13 second.
Weight : 49g.

I think I've found one.

Futaba S9650 digital.

weight 26Grms
4.5Kg/.11 sec at 6.0v

anyone used these? will 4.5Kg on each elevator half be enough?

RE: Servo choice

Try a JR 591. Cheap and plenty of torque :)

RE: Servo choice

I would have thought you wanted a bit more than 4.5 kg on each half.

The hitec mini digital HS5245 gives 5.5kg at 6v, weighs 32g each. The bigger sport digi HS5475 gives the same power at 5.5kg. No so quick though.

RE: Servo choice

I think 4.5 on each side for a direct link is fine... Thats 9 kg overall ! Depends how aggressive a flier you are I spose

JR 591 ! Have a word - that would be an insult to the model !

RE: Servo choice

Also means I'd add less weight that one Futaba 9402 with both digital mini's.
anyone tried Hi-Tec HS-5245 MG?

I had an e-mail from the guy who makes the High Society, he'd read this thread and reckons it balances fine
with 2 normal size coreless down the tail end....so know I don't know what to do!!!!

Maybe build the rest and think on it[:o]

i would use high torque futaba coreless... 9206 i think... lovely servos these ones

Archie 03-18-2004 05:28 PM

RE: Servo choice

Yeah I like the 9206 too... silky and strong

Just had a wad load of em arrive today !:D Guess where they are going !!!

Marcelo3DBR 03-18-2004 06:16 PM

RE: Servo choice

9206 is much more torque than he want's!!

simon Ka 03-19-2004 03:20 AM

RE: Servo choice

whats the spec on 9206?

If its full size servo's a have a few 9402 kicking around.....10 sec and about 7kg reckon 14kg's on elevators should be OK[:@]
(bearing in mind The Boy will probably have a go at some point!!)

Archie 03-19-2004 04:15 AM

RE: Servo choice

9402 is fine Simon even for the boy, if you are using 2.

You need 6V tpo oget top spec out of them but even on 4 cells you will have enough power.

9206s are 9.5kg, 0.19 secs, on 4.8V. Im planning on TWO of these in the ass end of the C140ex
