Engine for U Can Do 60
Hi everybody I have been flying my trainer for about 4 months and the guys at my field say I am flying my trainer to the limit. As my next plane I have decided on the UCD. I will fly a little pattern with it first so my 3d will be more percise. Any way I haven't got an engine yet and was thinking of a saito 91 or 1.00 at $220.00 and $250.00 or an O.S. 91 2 stroke at $230.00. I was wondering if any one has any suggestions on an engine.

Do a search for thread titled ' u can do 3d ' it has alot of data (over 50 pages of posts if memory serves)
Either Saito mentioned should work fine. more is better even if you do not use it all majority of time. |

got a 1.0 saito in mine and it seems ok, kinda wish it had a little more power, but it really is a good combo...........

Got a Saito 1.00 in mine and love it. Throttle management is a must!!! At low rates and half throttle, you will find that this is eazier to fly then your trainer. Told so by a student pilot still on his trainer, whom I let fly my UCD and did vey well I might add. But when you go to high rates, LOOK OUT, you have moster on your hands, beginners 3D style.:)

If you want to experience everything that the UCD .60 has to offer, consider a YS 110. It costs more, but will repay you 10 fold in pleasure and performance. Good luck with your decision. Joe

Agree with rcs36, I have the Saito 100 in mine, and have found it to be the perfect combo. Im turning an APC 15x4w prop, and theres just enough power to pull out of a hover. love this plane.:D

If you are serious about 3D flight, then the Y.S. 1.10 is the way to go. I have flown various UCDs with different powerplants. My first one had an O.S. .91 four stroke w/ pump. It flew the plane great. I could hover, but pull out was sluggish. I have flown a buddies with a Saito 1.00 and it has better pull out but not nearly the authority of the Y.S. 1.10. If you are going to be hovering inches off the ground, you want gobs of extra thrust at your disposal and you want the dependability that the Y.S. pressurized fuel system can give you.
