The worst wing drop ever
I have a problem with my CMPro KATANA 140 : when I do hard manouvers with the elevator, such as polling-out from a dive, or doing a strong negative-G loop, the wing drops like crazy! I can't realy say if it's allways the same wig, but I think it's the right one.
I checked rolling balance on the ground and it was OK. alsaw I checked both elevators (who have the exact same servo type) and they move perfectly equal, both "free" and with presure on them. Please assist. I'm afraid of loosing the plain doing low manouvers... [&o] |
RE: The worst wing drop ever
do them slower, alot of planes drop the right wing if you give over 45 degree elevator in high speed situations.
if you still get it, then maybe a wing is twisted or something? just a hunch |
RE: The worst wing drop ever
some planes just flick though, because they arent designed for violent 3d.

RE: The worst wing drop ever
beleive or not an old tutor 40 I had which is a trainer did it to.

RE: The worst wing drop ever
I had a CM PRO Edge 540, It was a dog... CM Pro planes are poorly designed and way too heavy
|
RE: The worst wing drop ever
I had a plane that would do this any time I gave it full up elevator when at full throttle. A little less elevator and it tracked fine. Sounds like you are experiencing a high speed tip stall on one wing. In my case it always was the right wing.

RE: The worst wing drop ever
Try giving left rudder before you pull hard. If the Right wing doesn't drop this time It may be that you have too much right engine thrust.
Get rid some of the Right engine thrust and the wing drop may go away. |
RE: The worst wing drop ever
decrease your elevator throw until the wing drop stops, otherwise if you get in a bind too close to the ground and yank full up elevator you might just snap the the plane in the ground. usually 12-15 degrees of elevator is about max that planes of this type will tolerate before snapping in normal aerobatics, and you have to get into the 35 - 45 degree range for 3D. any where in between and the plane will fall off.

RE: The worst wing drop ever
Check Lateral Balance...if one wing is a few Oz heavier, it will pull down...
|
RE: The worst wing drop ever
all planes can tip stall.. The only plane I have ever had that won't is the ExtremeFlight Yak-54.. The GP Giles 202 25% on the other hand was the worst I had.. Heavy wings were the cause... Not much you can do but perfect your lateral balance as much as possible...
