WHats the best 3D simulator?
Are there any good 3D simulators out there? I need a simulator, but don't know what's best. I'll look foward to your responses.:D

RE: 3D simulators?
Wha type of flying are you into?
|
RE: 3D simulators?
everything.
|
RE: 3D simulators?
I like Aeroflight pro deluxe myself. [8D] I used to have G-2 but it doesn't even compare..........d
|
RE: 3D simulators?
yes, afp deluxe for fixed wing, with a quite good heli simulation, and XTR if you fly helis and do a bit of FW flying, though i dont feel that it is too realistic on the FW front.

RE: 3D simulators?
AFPD........
|
RE: 3D simulators?
I sold my G2 for AFPD. I say AFPD for 3D. And G2 for IMAC/Pattern flying. But if I had to choose between the both of them, I'd say AFPD.

RE: 3D simulators?
I vote for G3 physics are great the planes are a little snappy but if you learn your manuvers on G3 then the real thing seems easier. My wife spent about 2 months on G3 and I started her flying the real thing 3 weeks ago. Well within 1 week she had already flown her first solo flight not with a trainer but with my Harrier 3D 90! I would say that is not bad for a sim. Ypu also get the added advantage of flying online I learned to do rolling harriers coaching me online. That is its best quality I think. The only drawback I have seen is you need a fairly powerful pc to run it. I think its worth it!!:D

RE: 3D simulators?
I have AFPD and it is the best sim for 3D. I've been reading alot threads in the RC sim section and alot wish they hadn't bought G3
|
RE: 3D simulators?
Well that will be true of any software out there. I have Aerofly pro (not deluxe) and the planes just seemed too easy to fly to me. Some people might like that but I like the sim being a little harder so when I master it there it really improves my performance with the real thing. Not trying to start a war or anything just my 2 cents.

RE: 3D simulators?
G3 here. flies just like my planes. I learn it and then just go out and fly it no problem.. LOVE it. i also have AFP but never use it
|
RE: 3D simulators?
G3 must be a big improvement over G2...I could never get any of the planes to do a decent 3D with G2.
|
RE: 3D simulators?
The main argument I hear about AFPD is that it's too slow and stable- Tell you what, turn your sim speed up to ~150%. It doesn't effect the speed of the aircraft, just the physics speed. I tried G3, and I couldn't get it to do ANYTHING w/out snapping out. PLUS AFPD is WAY cheaper! And hundreds of awesome FREE aircraft downloads. I love the photo-realistic backgrounds. I have AFPD and fly it at least an hour every night before bedtime.
It would be cool if you could somehow tweak AFPD to make it a little less stable in high-alpha maneuvers. Cody |
RE: 3D simulators?
Thanks for all the feedback. :D Does the G3 do 3D? I heard when G2 was the latest that it couldn'd do 3D.:D
|
RE: 3D simulators?
yep thats what i practise 3d with
|
RE: 3D simulators?
G3 kicks ass right now, if you want to learn how to git'r dun then you better get G3, AFP/D is a bit too easy for me, plus if you dont like the snappyness then add some wing cord and it flies like AFP!!!
|
RE: 3D simulators?
Thanks for all the feedback.:D
I'll probably go with G3.:D TowerHobbies has a great deal on it right now-G3+ Add-ons1 for 199.99.[X(]:D |
RE: 3D simulators?
In the next update they plan on releasing the software to build your own planes for G3. I know I don't like going to the flying field when no one else is there so why fly on the computer alone! On-line flying is where its at!!
|
RE: 3D simulators?
WOW!!! Thats cheap, but just to warn ya, they are prolly doing that bc soon they will update G3 so that you can have your own planes for free, so that add on will be useless[:o]

RE: 3D simulators?
Aerofly Professional (or Deluxe version)...both are great!
|
RE: 3D simulators?
You should have made this a poll to see how the results stacked up. I've noticed many more people will swing by and vote that wouldn't take the time to post a reply.
|
RE: 3D simulators?
How do you do a poll?
|
RE: 3D simulators?
There's an option when you start a thread to make it a poll...then you have to enter the data you want to be polled. I did it once with this thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_20...tm.htm#2095602
There were 63 votes, but only about 10 people actually reply. |
RE: 3D simulators?
A little more detail...
When you're in the right category of forum (i.e. 3D, IMAC, etc.) you will see near the top of the page the option to start a "New Post" or a "New Poll". |
RE: 3D simulators?
I had G2, but updated to AFPD. I don't fly 40%'s so I turn the sim speed up and add weight to the plane to get them to feel like my 25% ers. There are a couple planes out there that are a hand full when sett-up correctly (Black Extra and Katana). I like that there are new planes available all the time with no additional cost.
Kyle W, still uses G2 and can do all the 3D stuff on it, but I could not get the planes to act right with it. I cannot imagine learning to fly without a simulator. The stick time on a sim wires your brain so you don't have to think about the sticks when you fly(there are plenty of other things to think about when flying). About 4 years ago I picked up a cheep sim called RCpilot from Tower for $60.00. I put about 30 hours in on that flying the most challenging plane with crosswind, practicing only take offs and landings. The first time out I soloed in a 10mph wind with my trainer. I think of all the stick time I have, at least 75% of it is on a simulator. If you only get air time once a week it is a great way to wire your brain so that your field time is a lot funner. :D |
