i run a brand new 61 fx that is fully broken in and im using a 13x4W I think the 14-4W is too much for the .61

I haven't had a chance to try the APC "W" funfly props yet.

Do they make a difference?

They sound like the real deal, but I'd like to here from you guy's.

Thanks!

I have been using the 13/4 and 14/4 wide blades for my ys 63 and 18/6 on my 140 ys DZ it turns 10000 rpms static on that prop using the heli 30% nitro On the piazz i use the 14/4 and just got done putting on a larger landing gear Taller and bigger tires for ground clearance . The wide blades really slow the plane down for nice landings and mild 3d manuevers i think you would like them.

I think you can download a manual from horizonhobby.com. the throws and cg depend you and your eperiance.

Well, I got my Pizazz ready to fly. Two HS-225s on the elevators mounted in the tail, two HS-445s on the ailerons, one HS-605 on the rudder. OS 61SF, balance at the rear of recommended and I'm using a 9ZAP transmitter. As far as I can tell with a cheap fish scale it is 5 1/4#. I used a different tail wheel assembly that I had in the junk bin , not sure what kind but it looks better than stock. How much weight is too much on this plane? Is the rearward balance point sufficient for hovering?

hi all, am getting ready to install a ys63 in mine and wondering if any1 has put right thrust in it? if so how much? thx guys!

I had read in one of the magazines (RC Report?)where the author had put 5 degrees of right thrust in his.

I went with three, and it made a nice difference in up lines, and hovering. The nice thing is that it's an easy mod, and can be changed back in minutes if you don't like it.

I can say that it made a difference for me because I had flown the plane a lot before doing it, and really noticed the change.

I need to try that right thrust idea. My airplane came in at 4.5 pounds with the 50. Let me know what that .63 does.

will do budget and since i heard 3 and 5 degree...i am gonna go for 4 deg thrust :D ....the 63 should be great. i have 1 in a gp cub and it is amazing...for a cub. the motor has never quit or given me a prob either. i am going to put pull/pull on elev also. if any1 wants i can take pics...installing the p/p 2night.

Hey i am thinking about getting a more aerobatic airplane. I have a Uproar 40 now and it is getting boring. Is the Pizzazz capable of doing lots of 3d stuff? Also looking at the u can do 3d and it looks nice. Also, what size four stroker do you need for this thing to hover? Thanks a bunch.

I think this is one of the better small 3d planes. It depends on how define 3d. I believe the 72 is the pushrod motor of choice. If you go to http://www.minnesotarc.com/downloads/pizazztree.wmv
you will see why. I use the os 50 with a special apc prop and I have alot of vertical. I think UCD 3d is nice, but requires a larger engine. You say lots of 3d stuff in you post. I think there is only like 6 or 7 3d manuevers, the hover, harrier, waterfall, blender, wall, elevator and the parachute. Its how you combo these manuevers together that makes it cool. The pizazz can do all of these tricks; however mine does not elevator very well.

budgetdude 11-06-2002 07:30 AM

Well I pooched my plane today, not bad though. I was pulling into harrier at about 5 feet. I stalled it to transition into a hover at about 15 feet. The plane was verticle at this hieght when the motor quit. I went to full down and it flopped over. I let it build up speed till about 5 feet. I yanked the elevator full and it was enough to change the angle of attack. (thank goodness for massive throws and a very tail heavy airplane.) It hit flat and just took off the gear and bottom hatch. It was my fault I new I had a mixture problem from the temp being 30.

Aw Man, that sucks. I hope it is easily repairable!

Where are you guys having the most success with your CG? I think I am still a bit nose heavy, so it is kind of difficult to sustain a hover without it falling out.

Thanks, Dale

CG

Ok guys this is my setup Ys 63 running 14/4 apc wide blade using heli 30% fuel runs great on cool power but expensive . any way this my question i have always had cg at about 4 1/4 on empty fuel tank put some lead in the rear so now it balances out at 41/2 to 4/3/4 empty tank you cant mount tank in center of cg so when its full or even half full cg makes plane tilt to the forward of course I just went to the 14/4 was using a 13/4 wide blade but to many rpms on motor the 1/4 works good but i went flying today got a good day finally In the midwest winter has allready set in. Going vertical wind a pretty good tail wind pushing plane away from me i had to add down elevator to keep plane a vertical angle never noticed that before until i added lead to rear and changed cg. Had to continue to hold a little down elevator to keep plane true vertical i did torque roll nice and would hover for ever . Just wonder how you guys are dealing with this issue about cg changing when having fuel tank mounted forward of cg??? thanks Bruce

budgetdude 11-07-2002 03:53 PM

CG

The only airplanes I know that dont cg shift in flight are pattern ships with a cg mounted fuel tank. I dont really notice on mine, It gets more tail heavy but mine likes to be tail heavy. I will measure where it balances and see.

My plane is repairable, just needs about 10 minutes and some epoxy. Just before I ripped the gear out I switched to long servo arms and maxed out the controls, whoa. You really have to careful when your going fast, but you can easily do four point rolls at 10 feet while shooting an aproach for landing. It freaks people out especially when dead sticking.

Servos!

Ok guys, I'm using Futaba standard Ball Bearing servos all around (S3004). I'm using the short horns on all of them for fear of stripping them out if I switch to the longer horns. I want more throw, I can only get about 30 degrees as it stands, and I want to go for about 50 on high rates. Can I just pop in the bigger horns or will the additional mechanical advantage given to the air strip the gear? I fly my Pizazz like I'm sure all of you do, flip floppin' and reckless (for the plane, not spectators or myself!) :D I'm getting into torque rolling, etc, but I want to do waterfalls etc, which I don't even think the Pizazz can do, but I'd sure like to try! I'd love some imput.
Thanks!
Reid

You have the right idea. I am running the 3003 and I have alot of play in the case already. Your servos should eliminate that. I run somewhere between 50 and 60 degrees. I have also ripped the inboard hinges on my ailerons now. To many blenders I guess. My 3003s are hanging tough so your servos will just be better.
Any one know if morrie is open on saturday.

budgetdude,

Me too on the inside aileron hinges. I think I am going to try to get a real hinge in there for both sides. I think it is probably the proximity of the horn that puts a lot of load there with large aileron throws.

So you think it'd be fine to max out the throws using the larger horns? I won't strip the gears?

Thanks!

All I can say is I have not stripped my 3003s out yet and I get pretty nutty with the controls.

Pizazz hinges

Ok Ok I have had enough of the ca hinges. They are ripping apart left and right. I am going to do hingepoints. I also ripped out the gear again doing low hovering manuevers. I am going to make a breakaway gear for it while I rehinge it. I seem to be great at ripping them out. I am also going to dual elevator servos in the tail. Get this I just opened up my 80 inch H9 cap and guess what, it comes with the same stinkin hinges. CA hinges on a 27 percent. They didnt last a month on my pizazz.
