Pizazz Owners Thread

This thread is for the pizazz owners out there. I run standard radio gear and an OS 50 in mine. I use a 12x4 prop. It will launch out of a hover. Got someting for you guys to try out there. I just swapped the stock gear and wheels from a global freestyle. They wiegh about a third of the stock gear and have the same dimensions, so look for for someone who pooched freestyle.

Hey I've got the same setup on my Pizazz, except for the landing gear. It would be great to use that idea to save a few ounces.

My friend loaned me his pipe which is made by performance specialties, and I'll tell ya what, the difference is unbelievable.

I'm going to buy one as soon as I get my current project done.

BTW, great idea on the thread!

Even though there's been a million threads on the Pizazz, these planes are sold every day to people that will bring new ideas into the fray. It never hurts to try new stuff.

Hey guys,
I just got back from the LHS with a Pizazz. I have a new OS 61FS that's been sitting here untouched for a few years and needed plane to practice stupid things with so I don't break my Edge. Any servo or setup suggestions?

.61 in the Pizazz

I had mine set up with a Tower .61 when I had it and it was a good setup. I had the receiver battery located behind the wing and it balanced right on the money.

budgetdude 10-30-2002 08:00 PM

.61

I have not seen one with a .61 one but it should be fun. use a big flat prop like a 14x4 or similar. I tried a new apc prop today that just blew me away. It is a 12.5x3.5 wide funfly prop. I already had decent hover climb out wit a apc 12x4, but this prop made it a rocket. you will lose in a pylon race but who cares. It gives the plane incredible squirt qaulities. It should work with any 40 size motor. I was climbing out of a hover at just under half power, whoa baby. Here is a manuever for every one to try. point your plane straight up at full power, when at a safe altitude give it full left rudder full left aileronn and full down smultaiously. It will go wako for a couple of seconds, but as your holding everything it will star an upright flat spin. Slowly transition to full right aileron to slow and flatten the spin. You can know brong the throttle all the way down slowly to really slow the flat spin down. You can look back see your buddies jaws while you do it. If you do fron high enough you can eat a sandwich while it spins. You do however need some radical controls.

Hey staudacher I have a OS brand header nib for that motor if your interested.

What are you guys using for elevator setup? I hate using the Y pushrods. Will it balance with two mini in back on the elevator with the 61?

budgetdude 10-31-2002 12:56 AM

.61

It will balance and you may still have to move your battery back. You better use metal gear minis, we are talking some force on these controls if you do walls or parachutes. I have 2 ounces in my tail and my cg is an inch back from suggested. I wanna ditch the tail weight and mount tw :stupid: o regular size servo mid fusalage and use a pull pull on the elevators. This thing seems to to like being tail heavy.

budgetdude 10-31-2002 12:59 AM

pushrods

 OH yeah if you use a push rod get a dave brown pushrod, they are cheap and stronger than the kit supplied ones.

I lied about that prop cool prop, it is actually a 12.25x3.75

That prop has to be the best thing to happen to fun flying in a long time.

I nubbed my prop on the runway yesterday, I will have to have a softer landing with my wimpy light weight landing gear. Now its a 12x3.75.

Just a heads up I ripped the inboard elevator hinges. I made tape hinges out of sticky monokote trim.

Everyone should check minnesotarc.com

In the video section watch scotts tree trimming service.

Have mine set up with a Saito 91 that weighs only 18.6oz with muffler and standard equipment. Going to put 225's in back for CG purposes. Run a MA 14 X 7 Scimitar. Power? :D Oh yeah, what a hoot. Problems with stock mount - cracked  , will replace with Dave Brown. Needed to go to 1" bigger wheels and still have minimal ground clearance :p . Would not use Hangar 9 CA hinges if I built again, they break in half  with hard usage. Go with hinge points.

Hey budgetdude,
Did you happen to make it down to our Gas Only fun fly this year in Marion? I know Scott R. was there, he is awesome!

Hey Dale,

Are you sure that you have enough vertical with that .91? :D

No but my buddy went he said it was awesome.

You know BTM, I looked at the 72 and the 91. There were only 2oz difference in weight and I thought I had more use for the 91 post Pizazz, so what the heck :D . In the end, @5200', the 91 is not that bad as far as too much power. I always thought that that is what the throttle stick is for anyway...... ;) and I would do the same again I think.

My Setup

I have been running a pizazz with an older Magnum .80 four stroker. I also retrofitted two elevator servos in the tail to try and balance the whole thing out a little better. I have been using this for about 6 weeks now...Man, is this fun!!!

I have to admit, it is a weird looking little thing but I ain't entering beauty contests here.

Do you guys have a pitch-coupling in knife edge flight?

Jake

budgetdude 10-31-2002 04:57 PM

pitch coupling

I have roll and pitch coupling. I mixed it all out on my 662. When I go full right rudder I get 10 percent up elevator and 7 percentleft aileron all on a switch. How is your verticle with that .80. I was thinking of trying that motor out.

Ratt Belly 10-31-2002 05:17 PM

I was planning on trying to mix out the pitch coupling. Have any of you tried any other cool mixing set-ups, ie: flaps to elevators, etc.

The .80 runs pretty well, it was an older used model. I would like to try an OS .70fs, I have heard nothing but good things about it.

No I havent mixed the flaps and elevator but gave it spoilerons to try harriers and elevators. My plane does not want to elevator, I fight the wing even with spoilerons.

How is your lateral balance. I have not had any problems with harrier type manuvers with mine.

Has anyone used skis? I think it is going to be snowing soon where I fly.

Also, does anyone have a Real Flight G2 Downloadable plane that is a Pizazz.

Any suggestion on a prop for the OS 61SF? Would an APC 14X4W work?
