Both look Hot !! I just received my Kantana Mini. Beautiful kit. The looks of the Kantana are going to be tough to beat. I went with the Kantana because of the carbon fiber built into the plane. I read alot of good things about the Filton as well. Check out this baby. I am on the waiting

I have them both and the Fliton wins hands down!!! It is very neutral-flying (we're talking 1% rudd/ail and 3-4% rudd/elev), harriers, in all forms are the very most rock steady that I have ever experienced, KE authority is outstanding, blenders are absolutely wicked, torquerolls are easy, and stalls are flat. Plus it is just an awesome-looking plane.
However, I still like flying my Katana mini, but it has some wierd habbits. It is however, a superior quality kit, bigger, and has a lighter wingloading. You would be happy with either, but the Katana will be more expensive due to the larger battery and motor. An ideal powerplant for it would be the A30-28, 30 amp esc, and a tp2100 prolite, while the 330 does well with an A20-20L, 20 amp esc, and tp1320 pack. |

Well, I was origionally running an extremeflight 22t/930 outrunner with an 11X 4.7 SF prop, pulling 16 amps at full power after 5 seconds. Hovering, at my 6500 foot elevation, was no problem, but pull-out was not "foamy" impressive, although it did pull out. That motor took a dump on me, though, and I have since put a Hacke A20-20L and 10X4.7, pulling about 17 amps. I haven't had a chance to fly it yet, but it definitely feels like more pull. If you want foamy pullout, you will likely have to sacrifice weight and go with something in the 220-250 watt range, like an A30-28 and tp2100, or equipment longevity and overprop the A20-20L with an 11X4.7.

BTW, my AUW was 21 ounces on the 330 and 26 ounces on the KM...

Neither are great choices, but the 450 is close to the A20 and the 480 would be overkill.
Have you tried www.rcgroups.com ? They have like a 100 page build thread on these things and I am sure there is video there. I am no video guru and I can't even upload vids to my PC anyway, so you won't get a video from me :( |

Katana mini is an exellent plane, however it has very little rudder authority which will give you problems in torque rolls and kinfe edge, It does very nice and stable harrier rolls, harriers are very solid as well.
That being said its super delicate kit, and breaks very easily[:o] My Mini Edge from e-flight is easily 2x as strong (but has 3 inches less wing span and weighs the same) I would rather have the kit be a little stronger. The filton flies very well but it has its own set of problems including a stupid little stall that really doens't need to be there. YOu want to have this plane RTF and 19 oz no higher; I would go with a light weight outrunner and a Tp1320 to keep the weight as low as possible on this plane. Unlike the KM, weight is a problem on this plane. |

I've got the Fliton. Love it. Outstanding airplane but I'm not about to try and follow Kyle's video. I'll let someone else do that. :D

What stall is this you speak of? My 330 has no bad stall characteristics and is at least 125% more stable in a harrier than my KM...
Also, mine is 21 ounces and I fly at 6500 feet ASL and the plane feels light as a feather in the air. However, it don't fly too good if you lose power and you pretty much have to point it straight down and just flare and hope for the best when it happens, and forget about getting it back to the runway (ask me how I know). But to be honest, I don't have any electrics that float well without power... |

The latest shipment of Mini Katans is supposed to have a larger rudder. I havent checked mine to see if I was lucky enough to get one with the larger rudder...

The more I read, it looks as if the mini katana is a better 3d plane, with better flight characteristics
I have seen some videos and this plane can do it all. The mini extra Is an awesome-looking plane the scheme is nicer than the katana but I still did not see it in action with a real 3d pilot . still waiting............ itai |
