RE: Brillelli/Extreme Flight COMBO!!!

ORIGINAL: diviatix

I have noted a slight change from the manual to my yak kit. There is an update sheet with a small balljoint attached for use on the tail wheel tiller under the rudder (no longer is it one of the brass turnbuckle fittings). My concern is that the hole in the ball is substantially larger than the diameter of the tiller wire. Do you think it will suffice? Or is there a better method for linking to the tiller?

Cheers,

Andrew.

I have had no problems with it. I fly off of grass as well.

I wrote a post on it early this morning but who knows what happened but here it goes again. Built the yak with an os 160 spun a prop hovering about 25 ft up. had to bellly flop bent the gear and damaged the cowl. Had the breillilli in my grounded extra. And decided to make it a project.Put new tank under the wing tube. Rec. on the tank tray and built mount behind tank for the 5200 lipo and 2000 nimh for engine. After test flght today little nose heavy need to put lipo back a little more will work on this week. But even with a little nose heavy I def enjoyed flying better with gas. Dont get me wrong the os is an alsome engine but the little extra weight was well worth the $2.79 vs $17 gal. And the mess of glow!!!! But honestly i can say that the plane flies great with both!!!!!!! Also high alpha KE alot less mix req!

I’m thinking about buying the Brillelli/ EF combo and wanted to ask for some reconditions. The plane requires 5 high torque servos and I’ve had good luck with Hitec on my 40 & 60 sized planes. What would be good choices for this bird.. Would a plane this size need a power box?

use metal gear servos... Hitecs are fine... and no you dont need a power box.

Im going to be buying the EF/Brillelli combo here soon and had a few questions before I do. After reading through all the pages on this fourm about this plane it seems like alot of people are using lipos for reciever and ingnition batteries. Is this neccesary or am I able to use the type of set ups I have been using for my glow powered planes which is a 6V 2000MAH or so NIMH? I also plan on using Hitec 5955's for all the surfaces, are these abit over kill for this plane and if I did use the NIMH set up will that be enough to run those servos? Was just thinking those just incase I decided to go to a larger plane down the road. Thanks for the help, this will be my first gas plane and after reading all of this im just abit confused. :)

well that is the best servo choice because it will be useable down the road and dont have to replace gears once a year.

As far as batteries... I am using a 1400 5cell NoBS NiMH pack and a 4cell NoBS 1400 pack for the ignition. More than enough.

What size cells are you running? I just use AA for my glow planes but didnt if I should go up to a A or 2/3A for a bigger plane. And is there any benefits to running 2 batteries for yourn RX? Didn't really want to add the extra weight if I dont have to.

Thanks

RE: Brillelli/Extreme Flight COMBO!!!

I run 2/3 A cells.. just make sure they are high quality low impedance cells.

in a plane this size I dont see the need to run 2 packs. Just use new switches and test / cycle you batteries often to make sure they are working right.

Sinergy,

what type of vertical pull out does your EF yak have?

Yak 54 + DA 50?

I just did a change with a friend of mine, and in the negociation I get one EF Yak 54 74" with an OS 200 in it. Well, it was a great deal, but I've been during the last 2 years trying to get rid of all my messy glow engines and changing everything for gas and electrics. But now, here I am with another messy engine in my hand...solution? sell the OS 200 and buy another engine just for the Yak...or use my DA 50 on it? Well, let's try, so I sold the OS 200, and put the DA. Perfect, the engine has the same weight of the SPE 43 that I was planning to buy for it, and have much more power, and believe me, I still have to put all batteries behind the wings line to achieve the correct CG. The only problem is used to the excess of power and learn to deal with it without forcing the planes structure. In the most was the best choice in my case.

EF Yak 54 74"
Engine: DA 50R
Servos: Hitec HS5645 MG
Bateries: 2 Hydramax 2000mah 6V NiMH(for redundancy-with 2 independent switches)/ 1 Hydramax 2000mah 4.8NiMH for ignition
Receiver: JR 9100

And believe me, the plane is flying very well, of course I must to control very carefully the use of accelerator, and I am not a agressive 3D flier, I preffer IMAC sequencies with some blend of Torque rolls, slow spins etc..., and with this combo I have all I need for IMAC sequences "no loss power verticals". In my case this was the easiest combination because I didn't need to buy another engine just for this plane that came to me in a blessy situation. But shure, in the future I am planning to buy another Yak 54, this time for 50cc engine, and use the same engine. It's just like to "kill two birds with a single blow".

Regards!

I Bought a Combo setup EF yak 54 74" with the Brill 46 motor and CH RCEXL ignition. I was looking at CH ignitions website and read that a motor with a CTC setup has to be timed with some degree wheel.

Does this apply to the 46 motor?

Not to be rude, but how many threads are you going to ask this question in?

I’m not trying to be rude ether, but take this forum for example. Except for the last 3 posts, the last post was in 2007. (Funny, it just happened to be from me:)) So it’s hard to tell which forums are dead or not visited often. I also got some slightly different answers from different people. Whenever that happens, it helps get as many answers as possible to help figure it out.

Wasn’t trying to step on any toes believe me!!!! Since Scott closed down, these forums are my only source of good and needed information!!!!
