evil...Evil...EVIL credit cards!!! I'm fighting myself to stop from buying this setup!!

I was looking at building this plane up with a Saito 1.80 (in a couple months) thinking that lighter would be better and saving my first gasser for something a little bit bigger. Yet, this works out to be about $50 less than a Saito setup! Is this really a good setup for a 40cc? I mean, I know these are two reputable companies and I'm not doubting that, but people are shy on putting gassers in bigger planes than this, so I'm just initially thinking this is too good to be true?

It is nearly EXACTLY the same size as the QQ 73" Yak, and I had THAT Brillelli 40cc in THAT airframe, NO sweat. Weighed 11.9 lbs, dry, RTF, and flew like crazy...Just could NOT believe the performance value of THAT package....

I think Scott and Chris have a GOOD THING going here to get people into gas..... and those who RUN gas already KNOW that "once you go Gas, you never really go Glow again"

It will be interesting to see how many of these packages go ..... and ya'll have to read the fine print - Scott is INCLUDING a highly-reputable Jersey Modeler fuel jug, three feet of Tygon, and gas stopper for the tank.... that's about $65 value right there.

yes, i have the combo. i got the plane on monday. i'm waiting for engine to get here. i should have if by next week. the plane is the best arf i have seen. i'm putting the 46cc on it.

My Yak54 with the brillelli 46gt.

It weighs 13lbs, it will be less when i get the new muffler.
B&B gas tank
NX 20x8 prop
Hitec 5985 on the rudder
Hitec 5645's on the elevator's and aileron's
Air Wild aluminum servo arm's
2700 6v battery

The plane balanced just right with the battery on the CG. It flies as good as it looks. The engine runs great. The first few flights the engine was on the rich side, but once i get it dialed in it will be a great combo. Knife edge was good, vertical was unlimited.

Those Lipo batterys?
I calculated your wing loading and it's 27.0 oz per sq in.. Real good.
The new muffler is about 3.0 oz lighter and if not using Lipo's you can save another 5/6oz or so for a total of 8/9oz which is a half pound. That would change the wing loading to 25.9 oz per sq in which is where most all the top of the line 50cc class Yaks are when they weigh 16/17lbs. They come in at 25/26 oz per sq in.

What is the lightest suggested battery setup for this combo? Im using Hitec digtial servos (4-5645 1-5685 & 1-475 for the throttle). I'm looking to buy an ignition battery and rx battery. I'm used to using LiPos on my EF electrics. This is my first gas.

I have and would use 2800 Li-Ion from TBM with6v reg and 2800 Li-Ion from TBM with 5.4v reg for ign. These are lighter then any nimh or ni-cad. Longer lasting too. You can read all the "whys" to use Li-ion batterys on TBM site (Troy Built Models)

For the ignition there is no need for overkill. Go with a lightweight 800-1000 mah 4.8v battery. They can be found even lighter than a Lipo and regulator. With a battery that size you will get a good 2+ hours of run time on a CH ignition unit.

Being an advocate of the dual battery redundant power systems, I really like the idea of the FlexReg PLR5-DR. It connects 2 failsafe regulators (paired) to one switch. I believe its really something to look into...

So does anyone know if this combo has great punch out? like the sound of a small gas plane, but don't know if this combo is to heavy.

This combo i'm betting is a rocket. At 13lbs it's a great combo.
My Extra 330 fly's great and it's just under 14lbs with the same wing area of 1118 sq in.
