Magic Extra
I just picked up a Magic Extra. Is Saito 72 a good match for it? They say standard servos, but will it be enough for maximum deflection on these sizeable control surfaces? Also, anyone with a 4-stroke on this plane, what's the best prop? Thank for help.

Magic Extra
I have standard servos all around and they are more than adiquate for this plane. I have a TT46 pro on mine. It has plenty of power. It rockets out of a hover and does some pretty nice inverted flat spins.

How heavy did your plane come out? Also, where is a "good" CG balance point for 3D?

Magic Extra
C.G. is way behind the recommended. At first I added nose weight to get the plane to balance in the recommend range. I than removed the weight and the plane was still stable and flew a little better. If you are using a 46 size engine and a standard muffler do not even bother with adding nose weight to get it to balance in the recommended range. The plane will fly fine. I then started to add tail weight. The Plane is a blast to fly. Others have trouble flying mine due to it being very tail heavy. I am use to it now.

I am using a Saito 72, which weighs 17 oz including muffler. I think it's just 1 oz heavier than a 2-stroke 46 including muffler.
Also, I notice the fuse servos are placed just behind the wing. Where do you put your battery? Would a 5-cell 720 NiMH AAA flat pack fit behind the rearmost servo if I want more tail weight? I've been flying my UCD fine tail heavy. These rectangular wing light loading planes don't stall when it's appropriately tail heavy, so I assume the same applies to this Magic Extra. Thanks for your info |

So, how many inches (or cm) behind the leading edge should I balance at?

Mine is at 5" behind the leading edge , great flat flat spins, great hovering. All around great 3D aircraft. 46xls Magnum, standard servos. Do put support on the tail, triangle stock under and braces from the vert. stab to the horisontal stab on top. Attached is a picture of why I had to do a second one.
