tail braces?

is it worth fitting them or not i am thinking about it cas a just glued my tail back on after a backward touch and go. the tail is as good as it was before just thought it might be a good idea. If you would fitt them what do you guys use wire, metail sheet etc my plane is a weston cougar

I just put some flying wires on my razzle, after the horizontal and vertical stab snapped. I used 4-40 threaded rods with steal clevises, cut of the clevis part with the small plug, drilled a whole out, and used 4-40 hardware to bolt it on. You will have to reinforce the area you connect the wires to with ply. I used a 1/4 inch dowel and drilled a hole in it for the hardware. Here is a photo.

i was thinking of doing it like that only with wire did you notice any change in flight?

Not at all. Now that I installed the wires, I can do a lot more aggresive maneuvers without haveing to worry about the stab snapping or breaking. It in no way changes the flight performance. It will add a little tail weight, but I needed it on my razzle for the 3d I am doing. Hope this helps. Justin.

a what?!

after a backward touch and go
excuse my ignorance but what is a backward touch and go, i cant get my plane to fly backwards :p
do you mean a sort of backwards flying tail touch??
i dont think the cougar needs flying wires from what ive seen, just make sure the tailplane has a good seating and glue it well, the carbon fin wont snap, but make sure that is glued in well .

a backward touch and go well heres how to do it. Get a 30mph wind come in for a landing drop the idle right back. when you lose all speed and start to do a elevator pull back on the elevator as hard as you can and if the model is light enough and there is a strong enough wind it will do a backward tounch and go!!!!!! :D :D

nice, we get a lot of wind down here in cornwall on the coast, i do backwards landings often but i have yet to try a backwards touch and go!
