servo to control rod options?
I am building a 40 size 3D plane and would like to upgrade the linkage and hardware. The arf comes with 2-56 rod threaded on one end and is intended to be used with a single bend at the servo with a clip. What are some options for upgrading this hardware? I would like to keep it light and simple.

RE: servo to control rod options?
4-40 rods with a ball link attached to an aluminum servo arm and a soldered on threaded coupler (Dubro #336) with a metal clevis (Sullivan #S526) on the other end. Use silver solder on the couplers, all should be availible at your LHS. I've never had one fail yet. This is a cheap way to do it and works well for me but there are many other ways to do it, (H9 titaniam links, carbon fiber links...) just my opinion:D

What plane do you have. A 6 1/2 pound 40 size airplane is a heavy airplane for 3D if you want the lightest setup then stay with the 2-56 rods with a Z-bend. Fly it and when it flexs(assuming your flying 3D), then upgrade to a better system. Again, just my opinion.

Use a piece of 2-56 all thread going through a fiberglass rod. You can then use either a clevis or a balllink on either end. Simple fast and light

Good information here if you are still undecided on a plan of action. Yes, it's a commercial site, but you don't have to buy anything from them. The assembly materials and techniques are what's important. :)

Here's a few pics of a Funtana 40 I had. I do all of mine like this. Anything bigger then this is the same set up but with 4/40 stuff. The arms are from Du-bro on the servos. The ball links are Sullivan I think.
