Hi Guys, sorry to invade the middle of your discussion but I can't seem to get a response from anyone. I'm trying to find a source of carbon fiber canopies for my UCD-46. I did get a response willing to fab up one for me a $100.00, needless to say thats out of line. Thanks in advance gentlemen,

I can't imagine a reason for carbon fiber canopy. Wouldn't that be heavier than the stock one? What's the purpose? I've never even heard of one.

Sorry I can't help you find one, but I'm sure curious as to why you'd want one.

You're talking canopy and not cowl right? I doubt that anyone makes them.

I have a question about mixing. I'd like to set up my radio to mix the elevator to help with knife edging. I think it's pulling toward the belly pan. Am I going to need up or down on the elevator? How much % should I start with? Do I set this up on a separate switch? (Futaba 9C)

Hey Rob, If it's going towards the belly, you'll need some up...... I would start with just a few
%.. Like 2-3 and work from there.. You do know it's speed senitive... I never fly the same, and
I was always adjusting the mix Rud to Elev/Ail.... and I never really stayed at a "happy" spot so
I finally gave up on the mix and just work the sticks...

Had a Good "Lucky" morning... The "Do" flew great... After a few flights I want to see if a smaller
prop would help with the vibration, so I tried a 12.25x3.75... No thrust what so ever:D.. And no
help on the vib[:@]... I was going to land and change the prop, but thought I'd try a blender, It
worked pretty good after "working" to get her up there.... Well I guess with the little prop, I did
not get the needle just right[:@].. At the stressed part of the blender, the engine died.. First dead
stick with fuel..... Anyway was not going to make it back, So I tried to pick a "unseen" spot that
had less junk there... :D:D:D...( Can't see the last 3-5') Well I lucked out... No damage
except for a small tear on the wing tip, did not even chip the "little" prop.... After removing the
cowl and cleaning the engine and checking all I got three more flights... My lucky day

Thanks Ron. I'll try working it out with the sticks. That's what I did with the other Do. This one is just much more sensitive for some reason.

Blueline, I've never seen a CF canopy but if your just wanting the CF weave look on your canopy, there are some techniques to paint the canopy so it looks like woven carbon fiber.

RTN, thanks for the response. I of course can't find that thread that I alluded to earlier, however, I'd be interested in the painted look as well for other objects. Can you point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Hey Rob... My "Do" #2 is the same... Is a lot more touchy.. On the first on I just left it
on hi rates with everything I could get and I liked it there... On #2 it's low rate, about
70-80% expo. and only go to high when I need it... But with all models it takes time to
get the feel of them... After doing a few blenders, I forgot to switch back to low rates,
and as I landed I could tell it was on... But it was good... Guess I'm just getting use to
the way #2 reacts...... When I went in, I may have been able to get her back to the
runway, but after the blender, I was still on hi rates.. Plus it took me a while to notice
no power:(.... Anyway I was trying to float her back... But everytime I touched the
elev. she went "right now" nose up, and it took 3 of those before figuring it out and
switching to low rate[:@]....

blueline... Wish I could help, but I don't remember the thread... There's so many:)
Guess if you like the "look" and $$$$ is no object, but no advantage for the price you'd
have to pay for it..... But I'm sure someone would make it, if that's where you want to go..

Man, I just stumbled onto this. Regularly $350, now $99. Hard to beat that price. I've been impressed with Seagull stuff in the past (Harrier 3D) pretty well built stuff. The price is amazing. With a Saito 180!??!????!?!?!

Barry.. Thanks for the heads up!!!... That is a great price for sure!!!... But right now I'm
trying to save for one of them X-100's for my other 110....

Here's afew pic, of my damage( just at where I added my lat. weights) and Just incase
the AM will bring something else.. My "Do" with the tailwires removed... ;)

Ahh.. just one more thing:D... I know I have been on the "rich" side on the S-82
with the carb. stack on.. But since I had that dead stick with the "little prop" when
I switched the props after my mishap, I went in about 1/16 on the L.S. needle and
I have been running the H.S. needled at about 1&1/2-3/4... But I closed it to about
1&1/4 open.... And it seemed like my vibrations was a bit less on my last three
flights... For those with "stacks" Does that sound good, what are your adjustment??
Like it'll change what I'm doing, but thought I'd ask:D
Ohh, I liked the "looks" of the Wheel pants, But it kept cracking at and around the
mount, guess just from vibration, it never hit the runway??? So after two repairs....
It's off.....

Anyway she is cleaned, checked and on the charger for the AM....

Hey, this is most likely no problem, But thought I'd just mention it.. On your ant. wire...
You know that it should not over lap itself.. and you should have "stops" I use cut
off smaller servo arms with 3 rod holes and snake the wire between two and if I going
to the top of the rudder, I use the thrid hole for the a rubber band to the rud.. On the
rec. side I slide that stop down the wire just before a bulkhead so as to prevent any
stress on the Receiver/wire from pulling out(not Good)..
It's also a good idea to keep it away from medal, along with no medal to medal contact...
Sometimes the reciever will have a mind of its own, and that sometimes can turn out not
to good..

Take this for what it's worth:)... Because it's from someone that still has to tape my ant.

Hey guys, I noticed that my Do #2 was much more sensitive than my first one also. I think allot of it is because of the upgrades I made in the hardware, servos, and engine but not sure now.

i just ordered one, thanks Barry, dont know when ill get it going but it will have a 180 on the nose when i do:D

and on the sensitivity thing on #2, well ill have to say mine is not much different, maybe its the expo i use, i cant remember the %'s i used on #1 but it still flys pretty much the same.

Hello Everyone,
Its been awhile since I posted here. Finished up my DO and finally flew the plane. Finished mine with a ST G-90 and starting out with a 15*4W prop, this prop might be a bit much for the engine as the spool up time seemed a bit slow. This plane flys very easy and though I been flying for 12 years I have never been into 3d. Right off in a 15 to 20 mph wind I was able to hold a hover fairly easy, I can see that this plane is going to be a joy to fly. Im gonna have to read up on some 3d moves and learn how to pull them off. I did have a dead stick, not sure if the engine is getting enough cooling air thru the cowl, planning to cut out more of the glass before I try it again. The G-90 seem to be plenty of power however the plane would not leap out of a hover but would pull out fine. A .46 in my opinion would be a total joke on this plane, you might fly circles and make a loop but that would be it.

You are in dangerous territory with that plane. I have one set up similar but with the mighty 110. It has become my favorite plane. I just have so much fun flying it. Amazing. It's a bit bigger, quite a bit actually, than the 46 and handles the wind a bit better. It fits my style better than the 46.

Hey BradSD, It's hard to tell from the pic but it looks like you might want to open up the cowl a bit to get some air flow past the motor. Have fun flying the new Do [8D]
