Servo torque help

I am building a DLE 55cc gas plane (Sbach342).

I have (2) HS7955TG and (2) HS7985MG....the 7955TG have 333oz and the 7985MG have 178oz....so now the question....would you put the higher torque on the ALE or the ELE.....I already have 333oz on RUD.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Many thanks

RE: Servo torque help

Put your strongest on the rudder, weakest on the ailerons.
All yours are strong enough though.

RE: Servo torque help

I'm assuming one servo for each rudder half?

In that case, 7985 on each rudder half and then the 7955's on the aileron.

You mean Elevator half Curtis?

LOL...you mean the rudder doesn't have two halves??

Ooops!!!

Yep, I did mean the elevator halves...

sheesh

so picky!

I thought maybe you knew about a twin boom P-38 SBach! :)

Nappy, you're going to love this plane.

yes it is split ELE...so that is 178oz on each side. My thoughts are that ALE has larger surface area, so put more torque there....however, when doing hi-alpha or waterfall, it would be nice to have all that torque on ELE...I don't think the ALE will take same abuse as ELE...

The reality is that because the ailerons are easily effective, the airframe won't impart much load on them.
Another way to say it is that it's easier to roll the plane than turn it.
The surface area is not the determining factor.

thanks, this makes sense...ALE input doesn't change direction of centerline of the plane...Newtons law, objects travel in straight lines, whereas RUD and ELE change direction and counter this inertia....so I think I now have my answer now and will put 178oz on ALE...just rely on grade 12 physics !! :)

put boost tabs on her and you will have no problems!
