Can anyone tell my the best way to secure the rudder and elevator servos to the fuse? hot glue not holding, and it cost me a new super extra.

I wrap mine in scotch tape, 2 or 3 times around, then foam safe to the plane. One breaks or quits, cut the scotch tape, pull out the servo, cut the loose ends flush with a razor blade, then you're ready to put another one in.

I cut a hole in the lower fuse for my rudder and elevator servos in my SuperCap, and secured the servos with foam safe CA. I ended up having an elevator servo go bad twice, resulting in two hard crashes. Fortunately the foam is pretty easy to fix. I didn't like the idea of just gluing them to the foam with no further method of securing them.

My Feedback: (3)
When I mount the servos on a foam plane, I glue a thin piece of ply to the plane then stick the servo to the ply with a piece of automotive double side tape. The tape is made for mounting pieces of trim on the car bodies. I have never had a servo come loose wirh it.

I have been using hot glue for a few years and havent had problems to date, and I 3D my planes really hard. I scuff both surfaces and make sure the glue is hot and flowing easily.

I hate hot glue...just hate it.
I wrap my servos in masking tape and CA or PU glue (gorilla glue or other) them in, so that when the plane kicks the bucket, you can pull the servos out, unpeel the tape, and then you have a fresh servo case with no glue or foam stuck to it. I use CA or PU glue because both are lighter than epoxy, but I use CA on foamies that need to be light and we'll be destroyed within months. I use stronger PU glue if I think the plane will have a long lifespan.
Let's just say I use CA more than PU....

I used my wifes glue gun to make some reapirs and it alot better than my "Wal-Mart" $5.00 one. It's a Thermo-Grip 208. The glue got alot hotter which made it flow better. The adheasion was MUCH better with this gun.

Hot melt sticks to clear tape better than plastic servos. Wrap the servo with tape first. I've used this method many times without failure. Try a test first on a piece of tape and you'll see what I mean.

it might seem stupid but if you glue a small pice of foam onto the servo then spray it with hair spray it sticks ive only ever had a problem with this once (it helps if u heat the foam gently after

I use plastic cards like the (credit ones) cut some strips and glue them to the foam, then i screw the servo. Never had a problem and the weight diference is not much from using hot glue. Ply works also ( like twin said ) but is more heavy than plastic for the same thicknes

You have to have a glue gun with a low and high setting! do not use a glue gun with no way to change the heat settings. Only use low settings. If in high,or no setting, it will melt the foam and totally ruin it. I have one with a low setting. Works great.

just try to pull that baby off afterwards.
