3d Foamy Mini Su26
I am assembling this plane and there are (4) 13x0.75 strips that I am not sure where they go. I am thinking these are used to strengthen the fuse. Any help?
Thanks, Coolair |
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
Hi, they should be like 4" long or so? They go into the nose for stregth.

RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
I looked at the photos on the CD and determined they attach between the fuse and the side plate from about the back of the wing to the horizontal fin. They mount at 45 deg and really stiffen the fuse.
I also found how the triangle braces can be used to strengthen the motor mount. By the way, I like the construction of the airplane. At first it is a little confusing, but once you look at the photos, it fits together well in a very strong structure. Next is to install the motor and radio gear. Coolair |

Hey Cool.. if you have my min sukhoi, 4 4" pieces go into the nose laminations... but you can also add some rods to the back if you think you need to.

The 13" pieces are shown in this photo from your CD. I installed in a similar manner. There were triangular pieces to support the motor mount. I don't have a photo of these.

RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
Hi, the carbon your seeing there is the pushrod for the tail surface.

RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
My rudder is a little warped. Any suggestions on how to straighten it out?
BTW, in my previous posts, I am referencing the 13x0.75 foam strip that braces the vertical and horizontal fuse. I believe you were referencing the carbon strips in the nose and elevator. I have it all together now. :) Just need to resolve a receiver problem and I am ready to go. |
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
Oh, yes you are right. Ive heard of some using a heat gun a bit on parts to straighten them, Ive just very carefully bent them, however you do it, be careful not to break it.

RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
Does rounding the leading edge of the wing make a difference in flight? I have been flying for about 1 year now with the leading edge square...
BTW, this is one tough airframe. I have used/abused it well. It is about time for a new one though! Thanks, Coolair |
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
it may increase the speed a tad, and look cleaner, other than that you probably wont notice a huge difference. Its just a great design. These flat wings with my GForce designs are the best for slow 3d and high speed flight, cant be beat!

John,
The Mini Su26 Pro is showing out of stock on your website. When do you expect to have more available? Also, can I enter a back order? Thanks, Coolair |
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
Hi Coolair, I dont know exactly when Ill have them in stock, working on the superxtra's now and have a bunch of other designs to get done ahead of the mini's yet. I dont do backorders, its just easier on the customer and me.

RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
John,
Just checking on the mini kits, any idea when you might run some more? Also, is your website down? Having trouble accessing it. Coolair |
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
Hmm, thats odd, the website worked friday when I was there..... My server goes down all the time, frustrating!
Im finishing up some super kits this week, Ill check but I think Im close to some mini's being ready as well. watch the cart when its back up for stuff back in. Thanks |
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
John,
Just checking...any mini kits coming soon? Thanks, Coolair |
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
Hey, was checking over the parts today, week or two I should have some up. Im thinking of making a change to a single aileron servo, or making it an easier option.. thought?
|
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
John,
I think the single servo will work fine and save some weight. I do like the 2 servo setup...it is easy to setup and gives so flap options, which come to think of it, I rarely use. Thanks for working on the minis. I have learned more 3D over the past year flying mine than I did for 3 years flying glow. The SU26 has taken a lot of abuse and I keep patching her back together which has added some unneccesary weight...time to build a new one! Thanks, Coolair |
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
Yeah, I hear ya!
|
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
John, you should make a version for a single servo, and double servo. That way people without a computer radio can still make your planes without mods. Personally I would get the single verson just because it is simpler to setup.

RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
ya, well, right now its setup for duals, and if you want to put a single you can (how Ive done my last one).
Thanks for the input |
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
John,
Managed two flights this morning, 20F and snow on the ground! Tried a 3C 740mah pack...HOLY SMOKES what a difference this made from the 2C I had been flying! Had been using 2C because I had them and wanted to keep the weight down, but the extra 0.5oz or so compared to the power increase was no issue. Nothing wrong with 2C on this plane, but 3C, I am relearning throttle management! Coolair |
RE: 3d Foamy Mini Su26
yeah buddy, more power!
