RE: Is there any room in the world for pretty sailplanes?
Of course there was a time when they really did try to capture the essence of not just flight but for the biggest reason we built airplanes and that was to carry man aloft!
Most models for a time included a cockpit with a windscreen or an enclosed canopy which suggested that there was indeed a place for a pilot. Even if it was an area that was simply blacked out to suggest that the canopy was darkly tinted.
