RE: charge for building ARF's
Yes, I did mention the brand, and no, I will not ever again get into a flame war or any other type of cuss out here in RCU. This is a hobby for our enjoyment, and not a place to, "One-up" someone else. My point is, has been, and will continue to be, Why do we accept less than good quality as being the norm? If we stopped buying marginal products, then we should expect to receive the quality that we are paying for. Soon, the manufacturers and distributors would get the picture and get the quality where it should be. Of course, I know that that is not going to happen. Too many of we model airplane enthusiasts are not willing to wait. We have gotten into the instant gratification thing, and will not wait for anything. Just keep on buying one model after another, get it on Friday, fly it on Sunday, and the Importer/Distrubitor keeps laughing all the way to the bank. What does he care that the quality is not there? To him, if you crash one after another it just helps the bottom line.
I have models that are hand built (from kits, and from plans) that are over 10 years old, some with over 500 documented flights that are still in excellent condition (not rebuilt/recovered) How many of your ARF's can make that statement. I am talking about garden variety models here, not some hangar queen. Enough about that. Like I said before, I wish that I had not even mentioned the manufacturer before. All that ever accomplishes is to start a Flame war, because you probably have one from that source, and you cannot believe that you would ever buy anything but the best. I will not ever become a party to that argument.
Peace,
Bill
