I think that bypass must only be for the non pumped Perry carbs, also air bleed carbs. For twin needle and Perry Pump carbs you don't need the bypass. Also if you have rich midrange problems with the pump, that bypass circuit will reduce the pressure below the pump's minimum regulated pressure, which should help to eliminate the rich midrange.
