Default Stinger/US/Something Extra

Not sure where to post this, but since I plan on building something, I guess I'll start here.

I'm entering my 3rd year flying. I think I'm flying in the intermediate category. I have been flying an Ultra Stick 60 with great success. I got a little bored with the plane last year so I flew a Fliton Extra 330 Freestyle for a dozen or so flights before I lost control coming out of a hover and piled it into a bush. I blame that on getting too aggressive with the dual rates and lack of experience. I'm also currently flying a Parkzone Typhoon which is teaching me a great deal. I'm thinking about moving into a Lanier Stinger or Sig Something Extra, but am worried they will both be too close to the Ultra Stick to do me any good. What do you think? Any other suggestions for a good third plane to build skill on - eventully want to wind up doing pattern/3D stuff.

Thanks.
