I didn't do any mods to mine that I remember, but I don't remember turning my gear around.
I just built it as the instructions say too. The engine mounts to alum rails and the rails mounts inside the fuse with 4 Phillips head screws,and its really tight on the back screws to tighten. It's a really neat plane .......you will enjoy it alot!!
