The control surface has a taper, so the acorn nut on the bolt going in to the hard point will not be flush if you install it perpidicular to the center line of the surface.

On the Nelson hardware I mark the position of the nut, remove it, grind a small amount off of the bottom of the nut on the same side as the hinge, and them re-install the hardware with 30 min epoxy.
