The full scale Giles is a very small airplane, only 22' span compared to 25 1/4 feet for an extra 300L.
Regarding the 3W 106, the plugs are very close to fitting, it is possible that it will fit without cutting the cowl, or there may need to be a small hole on the left side to clear the plug cap. It's difficult to tell exactly without actually doing it.

The carb will fit inside the cowl without problem. As the other fellow said, the firewall must be moved back about 3/4". We have several customers who have done this (move the firewall back) succesfully, it's no big deal but it does require sufficient skills to glue two pieces of wood together.
