You can seal the gaps by using some low temp Monokote (Towerkote/Econokote), but DO NOT USE AN IRON! You can activate the adhesive on the back by using Monokote Trim Solvent if your Hobby Shop happens to carry some. As mentioned above, sticky back vinyl sign material would be the simplest.
