Default RE: Experiences Hyde mount "Firm Idle"

I have some Hyde Mounts from the mid 1990's on ys SF's and AC's and they are still going strong. The first Budd Mount I saw came apart in 20 flights. And this was a 2 stroke not a 4 banger. Yes it was replaced with a sorry about that we had some bad glue. The new mount came apart in about 15-20 more flights. The answer was a replacement and sorry we had some old rubber. Service was great the product was crap.
Hi Allen,

Could you please fill me in on the who, when, and where this occured? What you describe sounds a lot like a situation involving the tesing of a prototype mount about a year ago but there's not enough information in your posting for me to piece together what happened. Some of what you describe sounds familiar but I'm still not able to connect all the dots about the details.

He broke the nose pretty bad each time. He sold the new Budd and called Merle. That Hyde is now almost a year old and has about 250 flights.
Do you know who the pilot in question sold the mount to? It sounds like it was one of the defective mounts produced prior to June 1, 2005, and if so, I'd like to contact the buyer and make arrangements to send them an updated disk assembly.

Not bashing a product here. The Budd Engineering service was top rate. Service and customer support is one thing but Its just that the product is not a good as Merle's.
Well, actually you are bashing my product. But that's OK considering what you said you witnessed. I may not agree with your conclusions, but it's your opinion, not mine, and I certainly have to respect it.

If you are interested in what actually happened with the mounts, it's all documented in the FAQ section on our web site, www.buddengineering.com, including the recall announcement for mounts produced prior to June 1, 2005. Mounts produced after June 1, 2005 used a different adhesive, IC-2000, and have had no reported failures since then.

Thanks, Jerry Budd
