RE: GP Venus II
I also really like the Venus-- the original was the first ARF that I ever assembled. Plus, while I certainly like scale aerobats, I don't think that there are enough pattern planes "for the rest of us."
Like you, I had the .91 doing nothing-- and it really pulled the UCanDo that I recently sold like a freight-train! I have mounted the engine in a way that allows the stock muffler to point out the bottom of the plane but does not require the cylinder to stick (much) through the cowl. I wanted to be able to remove the cowl without taking off the muffler (or valve-cover!) everytime. I'll post some pictures when it's ready in a few days...
So far, no major complaints about the kit. Looks like it will be possible to mount the (stock) tank on the CG with just minor modification (although I wish they had made this easy for those of us using pumped engines). Ailerons use 2-56 hardware while the rudder/elevator use 4-40 (not sure why... ailerons are bigger than either rudder or elevator!). Servos are easy to mount but they don't add to the clean lines of the plane (i.e. draggy!). That's about it... really minor things...
Looking forward to flying it soon!
